fashion stuff

So today I finally went out and got some patterns and a few yards of fabric. I chose this:

you can't exactly tell but it's so pretty and I hope it turns out like my vision.
Jo-Ann sucks so I'm going to go to some fancy fabric store this week and hopefully I can find the right ribbon trim to use.

I cut out a lot of pictures today, black and white actually, the kind of pictures I'd copy the lighting off of.
Maybe I can cheaply find some of those reading bed lamps that clip onto shelves.
When I was a kid, me and my brother had those and I'd use them for lighting in the photos I tried to take.

I saw this Juicy Couture ad in a magazine and I think it's cool. My eyes are naturally drawn to pastel colors, but I like the old ladies in this ad, and how the clothes look attractive, but the ad isn't trying to make a statement like those stupid Nike and Dove ads with "normal" women in them. I don't want to see normalass women in the pages of Harpers Bazaar.
Anyway, the ad:

Too bad those dresses aren't on their site. Not that I could afford them anyway.
Oh no, if I had 500 some-odd dollars to throw away, I'd spend it on these boots:

Somebody, somewhere, please find me a good knockoff of these boots.

this is a really crappy link, but all i could find: http://www.fluevog.com/files_2/news_091504_web.html

the black boots to the left are john fluevog miss decembers, which actually zip up the inside, but have leather-covered buttons all up the outside and a leather-covered wedge heel with a cool little curve that make them torturous-looking but really easy to walk in. beautiful detailing and piping. i love my boots. they were, er, more than a couple hundred dollars. just a little more, tho. but i am a shoe whore, and these shoes are sexy. you can stand for hours in them, run in them, lord in them, crush balls with them. i can hear them fighting with my green python pumps from the '40s in the closet.

Although I suspect you particularly like the heel on this one, check out this site:
http://www.blanchesplace.com/id131.html scroll down, "Alter" and "Steeple" looks similar for $87. Also My Vintage Soul http://www.reproduction-vintage-shoes.com/ Let's you choose what kind of heel you want but they are pricier. Maybe we were all saloon girls in a former life.

I love the fall/winter Juicy Couture collection! I bought a black cashmere cardigan with white lace trimming - I got it 50% off, and it was still expensive. Their print ads feature the greatest brown reptile-skin double-pocket satchel, but I could never afford it - the plain leather version is US$795.

Forget My Vintage Sole; they are cheaply made. And the 'reproduction' shoes on the site are just commercial dance shoes marked up a LOT -that you can find all over the web for a lot less. Their stuff doesn't last for streetwear.
