This is my buddy Jobie and me. We have the same birthday and without any planning or wish lists he ended up buying me Johnny Walker Red and I got him Bushmills. I guess I'm more of a bourbon drinker, I like Jack and Jim Beam, often mixed with coke or lemonade. I have barely made a dent in this Johnny Walker Red since October because it tastes strangely medicinal to me. I don't know how I'm supposed to drink this stuff. It makes coke taste like the dentist. I'm drinking it now with Limeade and it's tolerable. Any ideas? Anyone have a favorite JWR recipe? Is the Red kind of low quality and did I get the bad end of the gift exchange or is this a decent whisky and I just don't like it?

p.s. secret santa, no Johnny Walker Red, please.

Johnnie Walker Red and Bushmills are about price equivalent, but tastewise I much prefer Bushmills. Johnnie Walker Black is much much better than Red label, and is pricewise about equivalent to Blackbush... though I actually kinda prefer Bushmills to Blackbush.

There, that should muddy the issue nicely.

jack daniel's isn't bourbon, my friend. they might make a bourbon, actually, but the standard jack daniel's is a tennessee whiskey, it's got a slightly different process.

1. Open bottle of JWR
2. Open toilet lid (you can see where this is going)
3. Pour down toilet
4. Refill bottle with something you like

try it with 7-up and a lime.

If you can drink bourbon on the rocks or with water, try scotch that way. add a lemon zest for aroma.

i've never really had any expensive scotch, but thats what i do with it.
