isn't that awesome. the placenta is the organ you grow to nourish the baby. the top photo is of the amniotic sac, which is where he lived. the bottom photo is the umbilical cord attached to the placenta. after you push out the baby you aren't done til you birth the placenta. nobody ever tells you about that one.

Did you save that stuff?
Because it may be needed one day.

I'm just in awe of the composition of the first shot. Holding it open, with the backlighting? Genius!

one of the benefits of non-drugged childbirth is that you have the wherewithal to compose shots and take pictures seconds after you pass bowling balls.

I would eat those for the stem cells. Did you?

All animals eat their afterbirth for a reason--Nature is wise.

when my wife has the twins the doctor has already ok'd it for me to bite through the umbilical cords rather than cutting them with scissors.

AWESOME!! you'll always have a little story with which to utterly horrify them in front of their dates!
you can also bury it in the yard and plant a tree there. aw. trees are nice.
amy [email] said at 11:45 PM 09-13-2005:
you better sharpen your teeth, that stuff is thick, it takes 4 or 5 gnaws with the scissors to get it cut.

hmm good point. I wonder if I bring in a samurai sword if they'll let me chop through them with it.
