Moog...

I am sure many of you have heard that synth pioneer Bob Moog has died at 71 of Brian Cancer.

His synthesizers were the single most important advancement in Electronic Music. Even today in a world of digital emulation and software synths the most common selling point is “Moog-Like” filters.

My band is finishing mixing our album this month and as I think about it, every song uses our beloved MicroMoog.

Godspeed Bob. Live Forever.

Some Tributes.

Brian Cancer, most prolific serial killer ever.

I knew you'd be in here. Haha! As I was formulating my witty comment, I realized that you would have already owned this. I clicked, and voila!
noah [email] said at 11:39 AM 08-22-2005:
The terrible thing about that is my first name is Brian..I should know better..

And last week at a company meeting, they mispelled my name as "Brain" therefore I have a new nickname around the office.

I should spellcheck.

One of my buddies in high school's nickname was Brain. Yeah, his name was Brian, too.
shauna [email] said at 8:04 PM 08-23-2005:

I've been snottily corrected on the pronunciation of his name so many times... and then randomly I watched part of a documentary on him a few months ago, and guess what?! He pronounced his own name "Moog" like it's written! So much for all those "Mogue" snobs.
myriam [email] said at 12:35 PM 08-22-2005:
Hmm, the CNN article says "Mogue" too. This bears researching.
shauna [email] said at 8:05 PM 08-23-2005:
as a total nerd who gave a moog to my bro-in-law classically trained pianist, i was dressed down to "mougue." but unless you wanna sound pretentious, MOOG!
meredith [email] said at 12:42 PM 08-22-2005:
Hilariously, John and I were actually discussing the pronunciation of your name in-depth before your first arrival here. I actually re-listened to your voicemail twice and was typing phonetic spellings to John on IM to make sure we got it right.
myriam [email] said at 12:48 PM 08-22-2005:
ha ha ha! Really?! I didn't realize it was that hard. It's actually phonetic, unlike my freakish last name.
meredith [email] said at 12:50 PM 08-22-2005:
Well, we were like, "Is it Mur ee um or Meer ee um?" Because I remembered you saying something about it on Killoggs like forever ago. When you were still just a question mark.
myriam [email] said at 1:01 PM 08-22-2005:
oh yeah! It's that people call me "MARY-am", which I *never* understood. Clearly NOT my name. You guys would never have screwed it up that badly, only stupid people say that (seriously).
kiche [email] said at 3:06 PM 08-22-2005:
that's too bad.
kate [email] said at 11:12 PM 08-22-2005:
I am sorry, Noah. Cool that you made a post. I thought of you when I saw this happened, duh.
