APE 2005 roundup

APE Crowd

As is done every year, I attended the Alternative Press Expo at the Concourse Exhibition Center on 7th St. in SF. As it happens every year, my senses were overwhelmed and I was incredibly inspired by almost every single table.

Prints & paintings
some of many cool paintings I encountered

Shortly after arriving, we converged with the likes of Arnie, Loren, Carla and Chris... shortly joined by my friend Jason & his friend Nick for a quick chat as well. We knew it was impossible to keep the group together (Kevin and I were having a hard time staying together as well because we kept looking at different tables), so we all kinda wandered off on our own for a while.

I really held back in my purchasing this year, but still came away with a lot of good stuff.

APE Goodies
a sampling of all the goodies I brought home

It's great to see so many people I know exhibiting their wares. Carla and Josie's Baristador is a fun read, with cute illustrations. I hope Carla got to distribute it far and wide! I didn't bring any goods for trade this time. Maybe I'll get off my duff some year and get a table with someone...

All my APE '05 pictures can be found here. I didn't take as many as I did last year, maybe it's because I was carrying so much crap.

I am also looking forward to ignoring all diets this week while Carla is here and bring her to some kickass restaurants. Perhaps we should hang out in the Mission, to eat burritos, peruse the pirate supply store and go to the best thrift store evar.

I like Bumberboy. Feels so weird that I didn't go, like suddenly realizing I forgot to wear underwear.
