Trip Suggestions?

So since my lawsuit went through, Jeremy and I are thinking of taking a weekend trip somewhere we've never been with the money. Cause that would be more fun than saving it. We're both kind of interested in the East Coast. Perhaps Boston. I've been to New York, though not since I was 17, but other than that I have been no where up there. Since a lot of you kids are from that area of the country, I thought perhaps you could suggest some good long weekend places to visit. I'm not sure when this will be. Probably sometime in May.

Neal, correct me if I"m wrong, but isn't California kind of in the opposite direction of east? I will look at your link anyway though, because I've never been to California. Thanks!

What are your travel goals? Food, sightseeing, places where you have friends?
meredith [email] said at 3:17 PM 03-30-2005:
Meeting up with friends would be nice if it happened to happen, but I think this is a 'just the two of us' kind of trip mainly, so that's really secondary.

Really we just want to see someplace cool. Good bars, good food, good things to see. Somewhere we could go 'do something touristy' if we wanted, but also a place that would be good to just hang out and chill in if we just felt like drinking in the sun somewhere. It'd be cool if someone knew of some local out of the way kind of spots in where-ever too, but again, that's just lagniappe.

Hm. My votes fall then to:
      Asheville, NC
      DC
      NYC
      Boston

Boston was actually the first place that came to mind for both of us, but we agreed we'd 'research'.

i just went to boston for the first time - my favorites: dali (tapas), miracle of science (bar/grill),
middlesex (bar), b-side (bar/grill) and redbones (bbq)

never heard of dali or redbones. been meaning to go to b-side. middlesex and mirace of science are alright. you didn't visit boston, yo, you visited cambridge!
myriam [email] said at 4:41 PM 03-30-2005:
there are some really good tapas places in the city

we did go into the city but nothing really stuck out. of course it was the week after the big snow so i definitely need to give it another go.

naww, cambridge is cool. it's hard to really get to know both of them on the same trip--different feels, different moods. anyway cambridge is a little easier to experience if you're visiting. it's a little harder to seperate the wheat from the chaff over here below the charles.
myriam [email] said at 3:35 PM 03-30-2005:
hmm, drinking in the sun somewhere =/= the northeast in may.

      the rest is appropriate however.
myriam [email] said at 3:35 PM 03-30-2005:
Well, if you came to boston I could definitely tell you where to go/stay.

If you go to New Jersey, you could visit Cristina and see what the acting scene is like there (perhaps for a weekend gig).
ed [email] said at 5:00 PM 03-30-2005:
Blue Ridge, GA.
amanda [email] said at 5:49 PM 03-30-2005:
Richmond, VA
Rehoboth Beach, DE
D.C and Baltimore (obviously...PLUS you could make Rehoboth Beach part of a D.C. trip because it's only a 2-3 hour drive away)
Acadia National Park in Maine

You should check out exotic Green Bay, WI sometime this summer. I'll take you sailing.

I was thinking about that too--it's a day/weekend trip from Boston, too.
