Dear Diary I Moshed Hard Tonight...

...at the Slipknot concert.
I'm real disappointed they played mostly old stuff,
cause the newest album is a serious metal masterpeice.

Shadows Fall, Lamb Of God,
and
(whatever the extremely forgetful name of the first band was) were all HORRENDOUS-
Lamb Of God played mostly their straight forward material (but I don't like them anyway),
Shadows Fall was puuuuuu55y,
and that first band wasn't that bad, and I pulled out some good mosh, but it was over before it began.
Five songs they played. I'd probably rather not play.

BUT,
I have to say, having your butt handed to you
by a 45 year old giant man is kinda humbling,
but I kept it hardcore in the pit,
and I told him after Shadows Fall,
"Excuse me, that was a *great* shoulder tackle, SIR. Good job knocking people down."
He was definitely with his construction worker buddies.

The best part was the true freaks of the show (which I predict I'll become).
Creepy old dudes that are just TOO into it.
One dude, shirtless, mid 40's, ponytail, missing teeth, and random tattoos was trying to pull people in the pit relentlessly. People were like, "GET OFF ME!"
Another dude, looked like a scary version of Randy Quaid and would uncomfortably grab people on the shoulder, stare at them and point the metal goat hand sign right in people faces while headbanging. I got many high fives from that dude.

Afterwards, the Victory Records street team was outside,
and after looking at the track listing I had to give the samplers back and say,
"I don't support Christian Hardcore bands, thanks."

We later got to the car, and I quickly drove to the Victory Records van,
stopped right in front and screamed things such as
"if you support Satan, don't take these cd samplers!"
and
"Jesus wants you to take these cds! Fuck that guy!"

The concert was less than perfect,
but all in all it was real fun people watching
and hanging out with good friends.

love,
joe.

I am thinking of Tony Bourke's face and cringing. And also that Spin article that was like DIY LABEL VICTORY RECORDS! Ha. Right.

Victory is definitely NOT a diy/indie label.
jess [email] said at 1:48 PM 03-17-2005:
    Like, the furthest from it.

It was some article on Taking Back Sunday (I had an immediate flashback to their tour manager trying to book them at CCAS and their HUGE guarantee).

Joe, as a spokesman for SATAN, thank you for rejecting the christian hardcore. Even better, accept as many copies as you can, then toss them in a sewer.
