Big Fish Seeking Small Pond

Lately I have been fascinated with modular living. I am not talking about your grandpa’s camper, or your uncle’s double wide. I am speaking of the new “sophisticated" (meaning over-priced) breed of portable housing such as this.

I wonder though, if I would get one of these, would I actually move around every couple years, as they are intended, or would I be regulated to a yuppie trailer park. Here is a large list of prefabs if you are remotely interested in this mundane subject.

Speaking of yuppie trailer parks, I really want to start a resort for the “white collars” who would travel to the country and pay top dollar to be able to live poor for a week. I really think this would be a hit, but I also swallow my gum.

Thanks for finding that loft. I couldn't find that damn cube anywhere after I read about it.

The thing about these modular spaces to me is that they're so rectangular - so I feel I can only walk backwards or fowards or jump, like Super Mario housing. The Trailer Park bar in Chelsea is fun when you're nostalgic for tacky life - I should go there with Ben next weekend.

do you read Dwell? they've had some good articles on modular living. be advised that everything in that magazine is much more expensive than they tell you it is.

I used to swallow my gum. Back in my elementary/junior-high days, I used to delight in swallowing the Super Bubble Apple flavored gum long before the flavor ran out. When I'd take a dump, it smelled like sour apples, which delighted me to no end.

Okay, TMI.

Anyway, now I can't chew gum. With my gastric bypass, if I swallowed gum, I'd be looking at emergency surgery. And since I habitually swallowed gum my entire life, I can't take the chance.

I miss Big Red.

Oh man why did you want to bring up Big Red. About a year ago I had a pack a day addiction. (Not the little small ass 25 cent pack, the real deal big pack) I quit cold turkey for a while, but if I see a pack of Big League Chew I am helpless.

I wonder how much it costs just to hire a helicopter to move those things.
