40-foot-tall bust of Jesus outside OHIO church

This 40-foot-tall bust of Jesus outside Solid Rock Church in Monroe, Ohio, is a symbol
of the strong Christian values in Butler County, which gave the president his largest
margin of victory in any county in the state, with 52,000 votes.

The thing I detest about monolithic Christian art on private land that's readily viewable by the public is not so much the content - Heeeerrreee's Jesus - but inevitably, like Christian rock music, it is cliched and an eyesore. It's ugly. It's visual pollution. I wish more people would sue. Or at least, burn the shit down. Or, like someone did in Baton Rouge to that old anti-abortion statuary, just pull up at midnight and haul that shit off.

Gawd that's the most crass miserable thing I've ever seen. If there were a Jesus, I think he would puke if he saw it.

He looks like he's made out of mashed potatoes.

It would be something if a large meteorite came crashing down right on his noggin while all the church members were admiring the statue.

Either that or a load of airplane flushings

Can you imagine how much toilet paper it would take to roll that Jesus?
kevin [email] said at 12:26 PM 11-08-2004:
what if some time when the church went away for a weekend retreat.. umm.. some taggers let loose on the mashed potato jesus and brought some racial diversity to 40 foot statues in monroe? hahah.
dave [email] said at 12:56 PM 11-08-2004:
i don't care if it rains or freezes, so long as i have my monolithic 40 foot Jesus...

That's the most robust Jesus I've ever seen. I'd like to see that Jesus in an ad for Campbell's Chunky soup.

It's like Jesus has clawed his way back out of the underworld. And now he's here to kick-ass and takes names.

"I've harrowed hell. and now I'm coming for you, Murdoch"

The statue captures him just as he tightens his grip upon the cross and wields it in a fight that lays waste to the Viet Cong, reveals to the public the continued existence of POWs in Southeast Asia, and destroys Murdoch's operations room, and, of course, saves a few souls along the way.
amanda [email] said at 9:08 PM 11-08-2004:
Jesus certainly has disproportionately large hands.

TOUCHDOWN BROWNS! or is he just praying for one?
