I am either sick or depressed or both. I slept 13 hours last night and missed all of my classes, and I still feel tired and sore. Also, missing all of my classes has only added to the school-related angst and anxiety I've fallen under the spell of recently.
I should make myself some chicken soup with dumplings or go to the store and buy some english muffins, chocolate milk, or any of the sundry comfort foods that make me feel like less of a nostril-blood spewing slacker monster. Perhaps I will make myself some creamy garlic soup. Garlic is good for the sinuses, right?
I just walked to the kitchen to get a cracker and noticed that there are five large crows gathered outside of my bedroom staring intently at my window. That can't be good.

for comfort food that allows you enough time to work on your shit, might i suggest:
Marie Callender's Pot Pie (available in your grocery store's frozen foods section!)
the best is the Yankee Pot Pie but the chicken is also good. I couldn't find an image on the web but here is a good blurb:
If you're going the TV dinner route, stay the hell away from Healthy Choice. Although some of Healthy Choice's products are quite good (most notably their Chicken & Sausage Gumbo), New Year's Eve is not the time to get healthy. Go ahead and treat yourself by purchasing frozen entrees with at least 55% of the recommended daily saturated fat allowance. Make sure there's lots of flavorful sodium added, too. The good folks at Marie Callender's make a tasty Yankee Pot Pie that contains 60% of the RDA for sodium and an astounding 105% of the RDA for saturated fat. This is the kind of foodstuff I want to end a century with.
amanda [email] said at 4:44 PM 10-11-2004: Marie Calendar's Chicken Pot Pies are delicious, but I made the mistake of reading the nutritional content recently and now I can no longer partake in a whole pie in a single sitting.
My favourite comfort foods are avegolemono soup, Mrs. Grass' chicken noodle soup (with magical flavour egg!!!), fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy (the comfort food of choice tonight), and omelettes. I very rarely go the dessert route, but if I do it is with banana milkshakes. Unfortunately the only place in town that sells milkshakes is Dairy Queen, which you all know sucks massive ocelot cock. I suppose that I could make my own milkshakes but if I am going to go through the hassle of using a blender, I will choose strawberry daiquiris instead.
So, to recap: friend chicken, potatoes w/sodium-laden gravy, tomatoes with fresh mozzarella/olive oil/basil/balsamic vinegar, stawberry daiquiris. This shall be the culinary Prozac of my choosing tonight.

myriam [email] said at 6:31 PM 10-11-2004: they sell that here?
on a related note, art, why is it that i can buy yankee pot pie in california, but in boston they stopped carrying it shortly after i moved here? huh? huh?! every generic product here is named yankee. stupid yankees.
amanda [email] said at 7:36 PM 10-11-2004: Mmm...this yankee pot pie and I should definitely pair up sometime soon. Together we will spoon beneath the stars under a red blanky.
luster [email] said at 9:48 PM 10-11-2004: you shouldnt eat dairy if you are sick! it will contribute to your mucus madness... i have been sick these last few days too and i must reccoomend my mother's chicken soup recipe... its super easy get chicken breast, a carrot some celery some chicken bullion and some egg nooodles and put them all in a pot with some salt and pepper and cook it for like a half an hour... its super easy and super yummy and you will feel better instantly!
amanda [email] said at 11:41 PM 10-11-2004: Thanks! That's pretty close to my recipe (except I sometimes use real chicken broth instead of boullion and add a bay leaf and savory).
Personally, I prefer dumplings to noodles in chickee soup, but I was thinking tonight that pieroigies would be a pretty tasty starch substitute.
I went to the grocery store today and got all excited by the little containers of homeade soup in the deli section. I totally thought it was chicken booyah but then I realized it was actually czarnina and almost threw up. Gross, dude.
