i went to canada yesterday to see hero. the movie was ok, but i am still undecided about the country to our north. they are losing a lot of points because of traffic jams. bad traffic is an automatic minimum 5-point deduction. crossing the border sucks too. this may become easier in the future when i no longer have a new york license plate and louisiana insurance coupled with a washington drivers license.

canadians seem nice enough though. and they have gelatto shops and noodle shops everywhere.

i have been picking blackberries lately too. tom robbins was not exaggerating in "still life" when he discussed the blackberry situation in the northwest. my fingertips are dyed blue-black and sweet when i return from my afternoon bike ride/harvests.

is there anyone on killoggs that can explain to me what is involved in fishing for salmon?

I can tell you what grizzly bears use to catch salmon.

I find it a bit odd I have never been to Canada seeing as it is possible to drive there.

i think it is possible to see canada from my roof.
rick [email] said at 9:07 PM 08-28-2004:
You should sit up there and watch "Hockey Night In Canada" on a small portable television while sipping Molson and wearing a took.

I wish you fookers would stop saying took, eh.

            No, took.

            Close. Toque.

Odd. In an interview with Sarah Polley, it was spelled "took."
woody [email] said at 11:27 PM 08-29-2004:
                Sarah Polley: Canadian.
                Interview note taker: Not Canadian.

                Just a guess.
rick [email] said at 11:31 PM 08-29-2004:
That makes sense as she is clearly Canadian whereas the interviewer had to ask her what a "toque" was. That seems clearly uncanadian.

my girlfriend and i are working on a card game called "canadian or not canadian". it will consist of a deck of cards with pictures of people like peter jennings, neve campbell, and john candy. a card will be drawn, and the question posed. that is all we have so far, but i think this thing is going to be bigger than monopoly. at least in some provinces.

I guess at some point I should head up North as I have never been on a toboggan before.
woody [email] said at 12:00 AM 08-30-2004:
Better to go northeast. The coast is pretty moderate all year round, though you could go to the ski hill at Whistler I suppose. Banff (or Lake Louise) is about the best place to be in winter though, it's under 1.5 hours from Calgary.

I have fly-fished for salmon in the MacKenzie River, and I have bait-fished for salmon off the west coast. With bait fishing, you hang a little fishy down deep and start drinking. Every 10 minutes you reel in your line and take a stupid dogfish (shark) off, whack him against the side of the boat and toss him. If you're as lucky as we were, you catch one big salmon in 10 hours. Pay your captain $800 for the day, and off you go!

Screw it, go to the fish market.

That sounds like a 1st draft line from Bladerunner.
