Now I just wait for 6 weeks to two months.

Just talked to my lawyer. My landlord managed to evade suit. They're now sending some special team after him or something. He's going to be hit up for tons of costs now. Heh heh heh.

Special Process Server. Just a private investigator who is appointed by the court to serve persons who cannot be reached by service by the Civil Sheriff.

Oo! I forget Killoggs has a resident legal expert. So how long does this take, Bibbly? And how was he able to avoid being served?

If I've learned anything from tv law shows, and I dare say that I have, all you have to do is make sure the papers don't touch you. If you ever see a man in a cheap suit, holding papers in his hand and coming toward you, run away!

That's one of my dream jobs.
          Someday, little spider, someday.
brianbibbly [email] said at 12:28 PM 10-20-2004:
Basically. Usually a petition for damages has to be served personally upon the Defendant or a person designated to accept service of process. Domilciary service can also be accepted in certain circumstances, but personal service is usually needed for the initial petition.

The PI's don't wear suits anymore and they are very very sneaky so you really don't know when to run.

He probably was never home when the Sheriff came by to serve him. They are lazy and will try twice or something. After that you have to spend money to have him served.

If we ever wanted to make money off killoggs, we could have a lot of fun as a special-process-server-network (gosh that sounds geeky).

We've got stalkers, cyber-sniffers, masters of disguise, agents in every port of call, and the man of a million insipid internet aliases.

Fortunately we're suing for all costs as well. So this won't cost me a cent. He, however, will get hit not only for double my deposit, but for 'damages' that he has caused me. Whatever they decide those to be.

I suppose I could produce some kind of evidence that the lack of deposit caused me problems financially in renting a new apartment or somesuch.
