what did i do this weekend?

Friday... Sonny and I went to Kara and Angie's. We were told that we got there right after like 20 people left. I'm still not buying it. Carla and Christian showed up, and a few stragglers showed, but mostly we amused ourselves taking faux prom pics and just chatting with those lovely ladies. Eventually some drunkies appeared and were causing drama so we had to bail so Sonny wouldn't get pissed. Apparently, after we left, like 100 people showed up. Suuuuuuure.

I also watched "Prince of Darkness".

Saturday... I lazed around the house most of the day and watched "They Live". Then I went to Chief Ike's to watch this Cherry Red play that my friend Meredith had invited me too. It was okay, but I don't think I'm gonna become a big theater-goer. After, Brad and I hung out with her group of friends, ate, wandered, drank copious amounts of beer. I had fun because I got to talk about Black Metal and listen to people and watch people. I enjoy those things.

Denny from Clancy 6/the Gunshy called me at like 8 saying how the Gunshy might want to crash at my place, and he said he would call me and let me know. By the time I went to bed at 4, no call. 6 am, a call. Then a call at 6:30 to say they were lost. Then a call at 7:00 to say they were still lost, but I mistook that one for my alarm clock, which I threw across the room. Finally, they made it and I made fun of them briefly before falling back asleep.

Sunday... I woke up at about 1 and me and Ben loaded his art into his van. His van which has mostly sat in our driveway (or other people's driveways) for the past 5 years. His van which is not registered. His van which has an expired license plate and no inspection sticker. His van which took several minutes to start and shuddered as we drove away from our house. His van which leaked gas when he filled it up. His van which died in the middle of 193 as we pulled away from the gas station.

His van which had to get us all the way from Hyattsville, Maryland to Arlington, Virginia.

So, we went for it, hoping no cops would see us, Ben driving on no sleep. It was a fun adventure, and there were some jackassed moments, such as when (after saying for 30 minutes we needed to avoid this road or that one because they would likely have a lot of cops) Ben took a wrong turn which took us right through the heart of DC, past all the monuments and the White House... Still, Ben's luck held and we made it to the Galaxy Hut with no problems. The show looks good.

After, Ben slept in my nice, air conditioned room and I cleaned and did my laundry. My friend Erika came over and we watched a documentary on the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and then the Stuff. Sonny came home, we went out to eat, Brad came home, we played cards. I was in bed by 3:30 (early!).

This weekend was pretty uneventful, but that was nice. Relaxation = good.

That road trip we took to Athens, Ga back in January 1999 was something else. It was in the same "superb" white van and I remember y'all conviently waited for my turn to drive to watch "Gummo" which I had not yet seen. That and I stole Josh's southwestern-style blanket because it was so cold. It made me look like a gringo desparado without the sombrero.

Duh I was being sarcastic about people being at our house.

I watched They Live a couple weeks ago. Still one of my favorite lame movies.

It was like 90 the other day. Of course, today it is 40. The weather here is the weirdest I've yet to experience.
