Overheard on the subway:
TRAIN CONDUCTOR THINKING SHE WAS BEING HEARD BY A FELLOW TRAIN CONDUCTOR, NOT THE ENTIRE TRAIN: "...And would you look at her! Holdin' that baby like a sack of potatoes! Get a hold on your baby, you damn fool!"

What are these... trains, of which you speak?

They are those things you Floridians voted to require via your state constitution and that Jeb Bush is single-handedly trying to kill.

Absolutely. I tuned in this morning to a screamer, a seizure, and a few homeless men from the moon, all while reading two chapters of a book.
Daniel said at 8:45 PM 02-05-2004:
i was witness yesterday to a guy who stepped out of a time machine from 1982. he abruptly pushed his way onto a crowded subway car as the doors were closeing knocking everyone forward. his initial contact was with a businessman who became immediately agitated. the businessman gave him a foul look which prompted the comment from the angry youth, 'i'm not the person you want be messing with today', or some such nonsense. everyone in the car became apprehensive. the car learched forward pushing everyone uneasily together again. the short ride from 33rd st.(the 6 local) to grand central was silent, everyone knew there would be a second roundto the drama. the train came to a stop. as people got off the train, people were jostled into each other, the discruntled youth pushed again into the slighly larger businessman with impunity and purpose. the businessman turned around and said, 'you have a problem'. 'your my problem', was the response. 'i'll fuck you up', the troublemaker had vicious expression. the businessman grabed the kid by the neck, realizing this was quickly escalating, he let go. the businessman was obviously scared but standing his ground on the train, this short time frame that the doors were still open was skewed dispropotionaly for the event. the kid's angry expression became demonic. disoriented but realizing this was his stop, the businesman joined the rest of the onlookers who had cleared the train at this main stop. devil remained on the train but there was still a few seconds before the door would close. 'what are you going to do about it, your lucky i don't have my kife with me today', was said from the train. the businessman mustered some couraged and motioned for the jerk (damn, i'm editorializing) to come take it outside. well, off the train anyway. the jerk didn't move but still had that 70's or 80's hooliganonic (is that a word?) new york city look. the doors closed. i stayed on the train and watched the kid drop his look back down to angry.

i wanted to kick him in the head.
