Vegan Pig-n-da-blankets

1 pack of veggie dogs (your favorite brand)
2 cans of vegan bisquits (10 in a pack). These usually fall under the SCIV category. So Cheap It's Vegan. Usually found as the store brand of your local supermarket, like Winn Dixie Brand, or Albertson's Brand.

Cut up veggie dogs into threes. Wrap bisquits around veggie dogs making sure to make tight seals. Bake at 400 degrees on an ungreased baking pan for about 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Guaranteed to be a hit at your next vegan get together, unless you have some of those "healthy" vegans there. I love vegan junk food!

My favorite brand of veggie dogs?

I'm sorry, I'm not making fun of vegans, but that made me laugh out loud.
andy [email] said at 12:06 AM 08-12-2003:
    Why is that?
ed [email] said at 12:33 AM 08-12-2003:
It implies that I have a favorite brand of veggie dogs. I don't. I have tried a veggie burger (it tasted like pure salt - I hope it was just a bad brand) and I actually have some veggie chicken wings in my freezer (the taste is dead-on, but the texture takes some getting used to), but I've never been tempted to try a veggie dog.
andy [email] said at 11:20 AM 08-12-2003:
That is understandable. The idea of hot dogs is pretty gross in general. Fake meat is also kind of a weird concept, even though I eat it all the time. But, I guess the "favorite brand" was only implied to those who would want to make the vegan pig in the blankets. So, if you don't like veggie dogs, this recipe is definitely not for you.

You can't go wrong with Morningstar. I don't think I've had anything of theirs which wasn't tasty as heck. I am especially fond of their Pizza burgers and Chik Nuggets (they taste EXACTLY like chicken nuggets from elementary school!! Yum sentimentalicious.)

Morningstar is good and cheap but nothing from them is vegan. They use eggwhites in everything. And I would so like some of those chicken nuggets.

yeah, vegan is a lot harder to find. I am a big steak eater, myself, so I don't even read labels.

Ed, I dig the soy-pups. It works for me. Mayeb they're labeled tofu-pups?

Boca makes them as well.
ed [email] said at 2:56 PM 08-13-2003:
Thanks, but I'm not a big wiener fan, so finding a wiener substitute isn't a big priority for me. The only time I'm usually tempted to gobble down a frank is at a ballgame, and I can usually resist the urge and grab some nuts instead.

That turned out so unintentionally full of double-entendres that I changed "peanuts" to "nuts". Heh.

I like Black Bean burgers, Ed. They are so good that even though I like burgers, sometimes I prefer BB burgers.
ed [email] said at 6:25 PM 08-12-2003:
Ooh! I lurve black beans! I must go in search of this delicacy!
andy [email] said at 12:06 PM 08-13-2003:
Chili's serves some pretty good ones.
ed [email] said at 2:53 PM 08-13-2003:
Black bean burgers? Or just black beans. Living in south Florida, I wouldn't be caught dead ordering black beans at Chili's when I have Padrino's, Las Vegas, Jalapeno's, and a million other local choices. But I've never heard of black bean burgers at any of those places, so I'd be willing to give that a shot at Chili's. Or, I could try something like Whole Foods. Probably a better chance. Anyone know a good brand to be on the lookout for?

I'm talking about black bean burgers at Chili's

Unless you are looking for real vegan, Morningstar Farms.

I think Morningstar is the black bean brand I get - but go to Chili's thats where I had the BB Burger first.

The black bean paste in Mexico tasted like chocolate. The other USMEX vs MEXMEX culinary difference that I noticed is that lime is all over everything.

NDK, I swear, one time Michelle messed up and put cinnamon in instead of cumin and it was like discovering a black bean holy grail. she was making black bean dip. she hated it and tried to throw it out. but i wouldn't let her.
