Been in sort of a hyper state of music consumption, buying and downloading like there's no end in sight. I feel like maybe I'm preparing for something...a trip, a new life, an inspiration to create. If only I had time to juggle everything. If only I had like, a special room and paints and a cracked cop of Quark, a killer PC, a killer scanner. I've been buying tools to make a zine, but I owe Brad a story. Maybe if Brad does well with his solicitations, I'll try something else...a music themed zine based on what Killoggers listen to, what kind of culture they consume.
So far:
Boards of Canada: "Twoism," "Geogaddi," "Music Has the Right to Children"
2 Many DJs!: "Pts.1-3"
The Steets: "Original Pirate Material"
Various Artists: "Texas Funk" (forward by DJ Shadow)
Tons of downloaded rare tracks from Portishead, DJ Shadow, UNKLE, different bastard pop artists and a few tracks from movie soundtracks.
(1)UK funk and hip-hop compilation with Mr. 45 on two racks and a P Brothers track as well.
(2) Early DJ Spooky albums I sold to Zack so I could meet Michelle (THAT is another story entirely)
Meat Beat Manifesto: "Satyricon," "Subliminal Sandwich"
The Roots: "Phrenology"
Tim Westwood: "Trust the DJ: Hip Hop 2002" (UK hip hop comp with a banging P Brothers track).
Worked myself into these music frenzies before...just not since college, not since 2000-2001 year. I was buying good sounds and collecting random cut and paste images for a zine...polaroid film for my cameras...man, I
do need contributions from people on killoggs or anyone who wants to send art, photos or writing.
This time it needs to come to fruition. In color (thanks to the rate Michelle gets at Kinko's and the copying we can get done at work for the B/W stuff. With a CD-R of stuff, maybe? (A Ben PXL 2000 creation). I doubt I make any copies for anyone outside killoggs. Maybe a few more to all those that's not with us here on such a cool site.
