Just when I forgot how the internet rules

I find that there's not one, but MANY people who remember "Jem."
Now, I never owned a Jem doll, because I was often too shy to ask for things I wanted as a child. I had Dawn dolls, which were also pretty darn cool.
But nothing really compares to Jem, the Holograms, and the Misfits.

omg -- i absolutely _loved_ jem when i was a kid!!! jem & the holograms totally rocked!!!! i had a jem doll, and the stage that went along with it. if i remember correctly, you could hook the stage up to your "boom box" and jem would dance along with the music -- i think they even included tapes of jem & the holograms with the dolls and/or the stage. what a fabulous webring to know about. thanks kara!

You can use my brotherinlaw's drumset and my bass and bassamp Josh's PA and I think you could get whoever plays guitar to split a guitar amp with Ben cause he's always talkin' bout evertually getting one and while I don't know where to get a Starp on keyboard for cheap I could modify one for you and Then we could work together to JEM-ify all the guitar key bass etc and we could replace the front of the kick drum with a Jem Drum head. And my Sewing machine is fixed and after I doing a little more work on the heavy metal quilt COSTUMES ******** and the basement is all done up for the first show and for your first song you could just hit play on a big pink boombox and move around all fake while a Jem tape plays.......Thank you for posting this I am sick today and you made me smile XOXO Sonny

they should just get the actual misfits (sans danzig) to play the misfits.

those guys don't need anymore charity money.
(although people would actually see the Jem movie just for them. How many original members are left? Two? And they get to use the logo...*shrugs*)
kiche [email] said at 2:32 PM 01-16-2003:
sure they need the charity money. and more people would probably see it just for them. they've only got rights to the name and the logo, danzig gets ALL the profits from their original releases.

plus it pisses danzig off when the misfits get any publicity.

My sister named our collie Jem. The 90's were a humiliating decade for dear, sweet, faithful Jem.

I openly admit to being a hardcore Jem fan. She, along with Tiffany, Kim Wilde, and (somewhat) Debbie Gibson were the idols behind my Teen Steam ("ya gotta let it out!"). Debbie Gibson's image was too much of a preppie daddy's girl. That was the kind of thing that made my tight-rolled jeans come undone and my side-spiked hair wilt.

Too bad you and my sister would make a bad match. I really do. I'd rather she date someone else. But, ya know, she loves who she loves...even if I don't love the idea, I still love her.

I cut open the stomach of this big rubber 2 headed dragon so that I could put action figures inside of it, and when I would put Teela (of He-Man fame) inside, I'd get wood.

Is there something wrong with me?

weird. it's odd that the army man video was brought up here. I was just watching all that stuff the other day. There's a ton of short film goodness that my brother and I made in high school that I hadn't watched in years. There's like 20 hours of it.

I still have the army video.

My favorite Jem memory was in college when I was in some sort of film appreciation class where we watched movies and then talked about them. It was really a lame excuse for a class (like most of the ones I took at LSU - but a very good class for drawing comics). I remember one day 80's cartoons came up in discussion and the teacher started talking about Jem and how she had all these special super hero powers and whatnot.

And I guess he was really factually wrong cos there was this guy in the back of the room who I had never heard speak before and he got all mad and said "Actually, Jem wasn't a super hero. She was a regular girl who used Synergy to turn into Jem and battle the Misfits."

I think that was the most information I ever learned in college at one time and probably the longest amount of time I kept focus on something that was happening in a class instead of what I was drawing.

That guy just ruled.
