Laura I don't live in Boston but have been there a few times. Check out the monster sound system at the coffee shop on campus. Or attend one of Bose's lectures - interesting stuff. Take the Sam Adams brewery tour.

Do they still have that killer bass tube in that coffee shop. One night we were in there just as they were closing and they turned the thing up pretty damn loud and everything in the shop was shaking like crazy. Also for Laura check out Harvard cause they have some nice bars around that part of town.

Because neither Ben nor I have ever lived there? Most Killoggers reside in places where either Ben and I have lived.
kiche [email] said at 11:31 AM 01-14-2003:
i don't accept this. none of the new york killoggers are here because of you. and there is the entire west coast contingent that you would need to account for. and the texas and southwest killoggers. have either of you ever lived in chicago?

my theory is that boston is to far north, and while a lot of killoggers live in the northeast corridor, boston is just too cold for their subtropical gulf coast blood.
xmeredithx [email] said at 11:34 AM 01-14-2003:
boston and chicago are almost on the same latitude, so your theory is bunk!
kiche [email] said at 11:59 AM 01-14-2003:
          crap.

chicago is easier to get to and historicaly linked to that area. you can go up the mississippi, or do as the old blues musicians and take the highway (that was 51 back in the day) why do you think chicago is known for the blues? i mean, c'mon, the blues? a southern musical form associated with the ms delta and places like baton rouge?

when the ms river flooded back in the 20s black share croppers were left to drown in the delta. the white land owners turned back ships sent to save them with guns. when it was over with where did the blacks run to? chicago. that was what? an hour, maybe two or three hours (stretching it) by car away from where your boyfriend is from (baton rouge). where is your boyfriend now? chicago? man, mindblowing...

boston is much further away, and has no historical connection to baton rouge, new orleans, mississippi, the gulf south etc...

            i'm still not buying it.

Did you forget about the British who ruled Acadia from Boston - and eventually ran most of them out and to Louisiana?

so, what you're saying is that, there's a negative history with boston?

No, just with the British, as usual...

I am Irish as well. The network was probably running booze, or from the law :)

Cajuns came from further north than Boston, their blood just thinned out so far south. Nothing says the trend couldn't be reversed.

I live near Boston. The best paper is the Boston Phoenix. It has all the shows, exhibits and music venues listed. Check out Boston Phoenix

I will be able to give more advice later in the week about where to go, what to see. Boston is a great city where there is lots to do.

The best clubs are near the Boston Common, esp. Boylston Street (rattlesnake bar) and Newbury Street (anywhere). Newbury Street, of course, is home to world famous Newbury Comics

For some cool funky clothes, Mass Army Navy (near Harvard Square?) has awesome military surplus from around the world. Great gifts for the males in your life, too.
