More than meets the eye.

Tonight I had a Transformers: The Movie DVD-viewing party.
Scene selection 11 is cleverly entitled: "Swear Word".

there is a warm place in my heart for that movie.

For 17 years there was no way in hell that I was going to see that movie. Then my oldest brother gets it for me for Christmas. God bless 'em.

What I couldn't stand was how over the top all the ads were. All the mullet rock ("The Trans-for-MERS!") and new, sleek machines also pissed me off. I read the comicbook version, but the movie was off limits.

The viewing party went pretty well though. I regret not setting my up my collection in tribute to the occasion.

you didn't see that movie in the 80s? poser.

When it comes to Transformers, I'm as real as it gets--that's why I refused to see the movie. It had adopted all this crappy American pop culture fluff and they were trying to migrate the focus off their old line of toys to an entirely new one. Made me want to fly out to Japan and bust some Deceptachops.

I was watching The Karate Kid the other day on ESPN Classics of all things. During the final competition they were playing that horribly dated song, "You're the best...around...nuthin's ever gonna keep you down" while people were karate chopped. I nearly wet 'em.

The worst thing about Transformers: The Movie is that Starscream dies. I mean it did give us the benefit of the few of the non-sucky post-movie episodes like the ones with Starscream's Ghost, but it also made way for the girl Transformer. Ew.

How cool would a road movie starring Starscream and Cobra Commander be? My spine chills at the thought of the shrill dialogue of their self-discovery. Y Tu Baroness Tambien?

I sure am glad it's 80s week on Killoggs. We've got the boy post right here and then my Jem post for the girls!
