 | milky [email] said at 6:19 PM 11-25-2002: That's one of the many, many reasons why I'm hated on killoggs. Don't fret. Today's just that kind of day. The V? It is what it is. Metal and hair bands had their day in the sun and the guys and gals loved it. I wasn't a fan of spandex or the butless chaps. Everything else, the V included, seemed awesome to me, someone young, bucktoothed, blind and not even remotely having a clue.
I like the V. If you can rock it and play decently, that's a neat thing. |

 | courtney [email] said at 3:08 AM 12-10-2002: shhh... they're sold separately. |
 | kiche [email] said at 10:15 PM 11-25-2002: the v and other oddly shaped electric guitars need to come back. it's sort of pointless to continue making electric guitars in a certain shape because the acoustic instrument from which they are derived was functionally shaped a certain way.
speaking of which, does anyone else here remember nitro? |
meenk said at 11:24 PM 12-09-2002: I have an SG because it is shaped like SATAN! m/ |
 | nathan [email] said at 1:32 AM 11-26-2002: I've got a picture of a painting of one of the guys in Air playing this on my wall. |
bratpop [ url ] said at 11:35 AM 11-26-2002: I never understood it. A falling V maybe, or a flying A, or a fishing Y, but a flying V? |
 | gen [email] said at 11:03 PM 11-30-2002: Some people can pull anything off.

 | brandon [email] said at 11:45 PM 12-09-2002: Did anyone else take guitar from Mark Touche' at Bob and Ronnie's Live Music?
In his lesson room, he always had a Black Flying V, which was in various stages of restoring. Usually, too, he had a book full of Joe Satriani Tabs. He wore his jeans in the tightest fit of any heterosexual man I've ever met.
I remember an entire lesson spent just captivated by his camel-toe. I wanted to cover it with something, like a dish-platter.
If you particularly aced some exercise or portion of theory the reward was an extended quotation on Mark's part, on the "V" (when it was flying), of something fast and slick, usually from, Joe's, um, corpus.
Actually, Kevin H. took from him, does Kevin come around here anymore (did he ever?) Kevin? |
 | brianbibbly [email] said at 1:03 AM 12-10-2002: My brother Scott was the electronic music guy at Live Music for about 8 or 9 years. Everyone calls him 'Big Scott'. Did you know him? A huge sloth of a man with a ponytail. |
 | brandon [email] said at 12:14 PM 12-10-2002: I think I remember that guy. I was just a runt at the time, scurrying in and out with my peavey patriot 7/8, knocking things over, and drawing the wrath of Ronnie or Bob or whoever. |
 | brandon [email] said at 12:30 PM 12-10-2002: Anyway, that went through before I was done... What sort of stuff did he do? Before I left, B&R had begun to focus primarily on PA's and setups for shows and venues - they really cut back on their stock of instruments, and I think they stopped offering private lessons for a while, too. I always preferred them to Michael Noto's, and the place down by BRHS, whose name escapes me now.
Galaxy music is still open, which rocks, Steve's got an old sunburst Gibson with a sweet body up on his site for pretty cheap. |
 | milky [email] said at 12:48 PM 12-10-2002: 'Slacker' Steve? |
 | milky [email] said at 12:57 PM 12-10-2002: Yeah, i think it is the same Steve. Joel told me he was ousted from his duties at the Spanish Moon. |
 | brianbibbly [email] said at 12:52 PM 12-10-2002: The BRHS place is BeBop Music Shop which closed and wsa reopened under new onwnership I think.
My bro did all the PA work for Live Music as well as run the 'keyboard room'. Now he is a recording engineer here in town for a bunch of studios and is currently building his own studio off of Essen lane. He specializes in all the digital acostic software junk. I can't follow him when he starts to talk about it. We are complete opposites. I'm all English and verbal, hes all math and science. The only thing we have in common is music. Crazy. |
