josh [email] said at 12:38 AM 03-04-2002: It's a famous internet scam. One day Ben's dad told him how he was going to do it and I had to spend a long while on the phone explaining it was a scam.
neilbert said at 2:45 AM 03-04-2002: Yah, that's a pretty old scam, and it's not just an internet scam either. My favourite "scam" letter, is the "IBM, Microsoft, AOL, will pay you $263.00 for each time you forward this email to somebody"-scam.
One girl that sits next to me, forwarded that chain mail to everyone in the call center (1,200) people. Boy, were the I.T. people (at work) not happy with that one.
jpr [ url ] said at 2:54 AM 03-04-2002: Yeah, not just an Internet scam. My dad got a similar letter from Nigeria in the '80s. I've gotten a few of these through email.
sean said at 2:55 AM 03-04-2002: its a pretty easily detectable (lame) scam too: "To assist me in providing an account of yours
where this fund can quietly be transferred into.. "
while you're at it, why not send along your socialsecurity number, email password and bile lock comination, just to make sure that "we are buds"
Nathan said at 5:25 PM 03-04-2002: Someone in a similar scenario to this sent me an e-mail to sell me some gold bricks. I get so much junk email, and it's 98% obvious from the title, or from the number of numbers in the senders name. The ones that trick me are the ones with the subject "none".
