some weekend fun ideas:

friday

afternoon : craig & kiche are coming into town.

sean is also in town, so there will be drinking at the dirtfarm & visions, I imagine. All are welcome to participate.

saturday

morning : there is the Indymedia garage sale/bake sale at the IMC.

7:30 : the short ben, loren and I made is in this film fest deal. ask ben for more info on this.

night : some sort of Caribbean thing with the nyc crew. Mary is in charge of this one.

night : prom party at sonny's old house!

sunday

morning : i was trying to organize a photo excursion. if anyone knows of interesting/wrecked places in dc/md/va, respond or get in touch.

afternoon : some people are meeting to watch "monsters ball" the new billy bob movie that was shot in Louisiana. (I remember when they were shooting, one of the many strip clubs near my old work had a big banner that said "Featured in the new Billy Bob Thorton movie!!")

Also, next weekend there's a show at the Dirtfarm. I'll post about it soon.

Last night I had to help muscle up on some guy at Visions. It was amusing. Evan the bartender ran outside to confront some guy, so several of us joined him. We all stood there with our arms crossed, scowling while Evan yelled at him. "You have four guys here who want to kick your ass, just go! G - O spells GO!"

I bought cake that tasted bad and watched Bound with Mary, Dianne and Emily. One of their neighbors confronted me on the street:

"You in school?"
"No."
"Were you in school?"
"Well... yes."
"What school?"
"LSU"
"That a community college?"
"No."
"A private school?"
"A state school."
"Oh."

He then proceeded to tell me about how he wanted to go to this new financial school in DC, because he just wants to learn about the money, fuck all that other shit.

"You think rich people work, man? All you need to do is know about the money, then you're alright."

He lost interest in me soon after that.

--

When I got home after the movies, Sean was there as well as the rest of the angry mob. We poked fun at my roommate Zack for his repeated making out with guys while simultaneously claiming to be 100% straight. In his own words, he had to make out with his latest conquest because he "had to show his appreciation for how attractive he was". It doesn't bother us, it's just funny that he has to justify it with such doublespeak. Amusingly, yesterday Zack and Abby were both separately making out with gay guys, though there is a theory that the gay guy Abby was making out with may just be posing as gay to get girls to make out with him under false pretenses.

Only time will tell.

That's wild, BB Thorton, filmed "Behind the badge" which will premier on April 11th(formerly to be called, Behind the sun) in BR,NO,Prarieville, and Gonzales. My sister lives upstairs from the sex, lies&V apartment and he filmed part of it there. I guess that LA is a really inexpensive place to film two movies at once as opposed to L.A.

He also worked on the Apostle, which was partially shot, maybe wholely shot here. My friend Andrew was a PA on that shoot and had to drive BBT around. This was right after Sling Blade, if I recall correctly.

Soderberg is filming part (or all, I dunno) of Full Frontal in Baton Rouge, or so I hear. He's also shooting it mostly on a $2500 Canon XL-1s. A Julia Roberts movie shot on a prosumer video camera? Pretty wild stuff.

I can't believe he's doing a sequel to Pulp Fiction...no wait, yes I can...Tarantino and Travolta shot their wads a LONG time ago.
josh [email] said at 8:00 PM 02-22-2002:
Well, to be fair, Tarantino hasn't been beating his career like a dead horse, as Travolta has. He has just been chilling, enjoying his vast wealth.

And where did you hear he's doing a sequel to Pulp Fiction? Tarantino is currently working on "Kill Bill" right now. After that he suppossedly wants to do a war movie.
milky [email] said at 1:08 PM 02-23-2002:
Travolta said a few months ago that he signed with Tarantino to do a sequel.

Huh, it's not on IMDB... I'd regard that as rumor until I hear more about it. Tarantino has talked about maybe a dozen movies he's been considering since Jackie Brown.
josh said at 3:21 PM 02-22-2002:
she gets naked in that, too?
