Three the Hard Way

I do two hour long sets on a treadmill every day in order to establish some sort of physical activity and posture. The cool thing is the natural endorphin high I get doing it which I enhance using aromatherapy. I can't believe I've already converted to tofu pups and Boca burgers so quickly. Alcohol was given up for lent, along with cigarettes.

Why the health kick? I did seven years of good, solid damage to my body and I'd like to repair it.

This weekend we will trek to Austin to see 'Skratch.' I managed to also score tickets to a sold out Spurs v. Lakers game at the Alamo Dome next month.

Still no job, but life is good.

Milky, do you recommend any DJ Scanner (other than Spooky vs. Scanner)?

No...it's not for my liking. I've listened to quite a bit of Scanner. His composition methods are great in theory, but it has no...soul to it. I know it is collected sound, found sound...but I feel no funk, no rhythm.

Yeah, I'm not a big Scanner fan either. From his interviews he seems like a pompous ass and his music is often lacking in much more than theory- and not always the best usage of it. Still, he recently put out an album called "Scannerfunk" which is a funkier (go figure) approach to making music for him.. My boy Rob liked it I think.

Keep in mind that I'm not one for dance music and I listen to more abstract sounds than not, so I don't reject Scanner's music on those qualities.. I just find most of it bloodless and sloppily theoretical.

Nathan, you should try Kid 606.

Thanks for the suggestion. I was asking about Scanner b/c everything I'd heard other than the Spooky vs. Scanner (which I think is great) was bland. I'd say what I've read of Spooky is as hokey as the Situationalists.

Spooky's 'Songs of a Dead Dreamer' is fantastic...other than that, he's trying to make himself out to be the next Basquiat...

Back in the day I saw Rodman and the Spurs versus Dominique and the Hawks in the Alamodome. It was fun to watch Rodman. He played no offense, only a little defense, but he grabbed like 32 rebounds.
Shaq doesn't like Robinson at all.

Shaq throws so many bricks, he should be in construction instead of basketball. I met him one time at LSU. Boy, he's one DUMB motherfucker...
