laziness.

I work on a college campus, and have noticed a disturbing trend. Many, way too many, of the students here have forgone backpacks for these little rolling luggage cases. They walk around with their books rolling along behind them. The cases aren't even that large- yesterday I saw a girl with one the size of one of those little baby back-purse things that were popular a few years ago. How lazy can you be to put that one wheels and roll it around, as opposed to carrying it?

i knew that younger kids, in grade school and such, were using suitcases, because i see them going to the bus stop in the mornings. that's a little different, kids around here all seem to be a bunch of hyper-intelligent over-schooled geeks [the next generation of killoggers?]. college kids, that's just freakin' lazy. especially when you think you only really need to bring books for one or two classes at a time.

My soccer-mom colleague tells me that her son's middle school makes them carry all their books around, for every class, all day. They are not allowed to go to their lockers, except at lunch. (OK, so half the day then.) So... that's gotta suck.

i've heard of younger kids doing it to avoid back problems, but in college there is no excuse. when i was in college i only had 2-3 classes a day anyway so it's not like they have to carry a lot of books around.

actually the rolling luggage suitcase seems like a good idea if you want people to think that you're on the way to catch a plane all the time. maybe i'll get one. of course, actually bringing those things on a plane is not a good idea right now, because security will comb through all of your stuff at the gate. seems kind of like an act of the past.

Being that I go to said University- I have noticed this as well. It's funny. It's also retarded. I suppose it's better for your back maybe, but considering some of the teensy ones I've seen- it makes me wanna laugh.

I was trying to convince Kelly to get one of those after lifting up her backpack. 5 classes in one day and she has to ahve all of her books. It's SERIOUSLY NOT GOOD for your back to carry aroun that much weight. I'm surprised she wasn't falling over backwards.
