"Just sit drawing up the plans and re-erect it"

Thoughts on the new Weezer record from the Killoggs Weezer fans?

At first, I was kinda disappointed but it's grown on me alot. Not a big fan of "Hash Pipe" but I dig "Photograph," "Simple Pages" and "Smile." OH, and I really like the "hip, hip" bit in "Island in the Sun."

It's no "Pinkerton" but it's fun. No shame in their game.

It's funny, I think Pinkerton is by far their best record but Rivers Cuomo hates it, and they don't play songs from it at shows (or so he says in a recent interview). He spent a few paragraphs of the interview saying how much he hated Pinkerton, how he wished they'd never recorded it, how he wishes he could erase it from history, etc...

His hatred of Pinkerton comes from his super-geek insecurity. Everybody I know loves the damn thing, and they DO NOT play it at shows. At the last show, I went to they played neither "Across the Sea" or "Pink Triangle," two of my favorites. I think they played "The Good Life" and maybe "El Scorcho" but that's it...

I'm a fan of blaring "Say it Ain't So" off of the first album rigt after I get dumped by my girlfriend. Lets just say I play that one about every two weeks. Weep with me...

i didn't like pinkerton as much as weezer's self titled one. but that may have more to do with what was going on in my life at the time. and the clips i've heard from the new one sound less promising. but i'd give it at least three listen throughs before discarding it. weezer has done so many nice things for me...

i really liked the first album...and detest the second one. this is unfortunate because i lost the half of my weezer collection that i was fond of.

i think the only reason rivers cumos hated pinkerton so much was because it got really shitty reviews and the album branded him an "ego-maniac." he went into depression and isolation for two years after that...

I think Pinkerton is a much better and varied album than the first one. Neither are as good as Aerosmith's "Pump".

LINUS!!!!!!! You stole my post! I was just about to ask about people's impressions on the new WEEZER... It's growing on me too. Especially hash pipe. I absolutely hated it at first, and now I'm startting to like it ?!?!?? Though their performed on SNL did nothing to help turn me around. Photograph is the bomb. It's so cheesy. Love it! Pinkerton is my personal fav album too. EVERY song on that album is just a gem! I love it! Fuck, I hope they tour Montreal soon...

I think that overall they are a good band...No! They are Great, but just like every other band no matter how great they are they have their ups and downs.Personally i love all their albums i can't wait until their new album comes out.But truly if i had to pick i couldn't because i could listen to all their albums all the way through 1,000's over.as you can tell I love Weezer.Just hope Rivers keeps up the good work!
