So I got really drunk last night, and when I asked to pay for my tab, I was met with a wall of attitude: "You already paid; get the fuck outta here," or something to that effect. I really didn't remember paying, and I assumed I also forgot to tip, hence the attitude. But why couldn't this guy be reasonable? If I forgot I paid him already, is it so unlikely that I would have FORGOTTEN to tip him too? All he had to say is, "Actually, you already paid us, and I noticed you didn't tip. Was there something wrong with the service?" And I would have said, "Oh, I'm very sorry. Here, let me tip you." I'm so sick of bartenders who think they have card blanc to treat you like shit simply because it's the weekend, and they don't want to be there. Look asshole, you chose this for yourself. I'm not responsible for your condition. Anyway, I said, "Can I at least get a receipt?" And after much shouting, and initially being ignored for this request, I got it. I just stuffed it in my pocket without looking - too drunk to care, I guess - I couldn't even find it when I looked for it this morning. But when I went online to check my bank statement, I saw a charge for $26.40. I only had 2 Delirium Tremens, and granted, that's expensive beer, but even if they cost me $10 each, I don't feel like that gives a bartender the right to reward himself with a 30% + tip.
Also, I know that there are at least 2 bartenders who read Killoggs, and you've always been great to me, thanks. And if at any time I didn't tip you, I didn't mean it, and please don't ever hesitate to point it out to me if I did.
