Touch. Go.

Girls Against Boys played "Venus Luxure" in its entirety. I danced like the spastic retard I am to !!! with my friend Laura. The Ex made me want to play in a band again because I too want to play guitar until my hand is bleeding all over the pick-ups. Killdozer were...Killdozer (so-- awesome). Sally Timms' joke about David Yow's "fantastic penis" being kept in a jar backstage made me giggle hysterically, especially with the British accented delivery. I love how Brits seem so proper, even whilst speaking of the cock of Yow. Man...Or Astroman? were brilliant and I think that I am in love with their drummer, who threw his drums into the audience at the end of their set.

Big Black were somewhat disappointing and lacked energy (probably due to admittedly not being excited to play), but Shellac's set blew me away despite some shitty sound. Their rendition of "Billiard Player Song" had me smiling and misty eyed the entire way through, though I wanted to punch the douchebags behind me who kept yelling for Steve to get to the rock part. They played "The Radio Song" as the wind picked up and the Sears Tower's peak gradually dithered into the mist and clouds on the horizon behind the stage.

"We'd like to thank our sponsor, but there is no sponsor. It's the end of radio."

I am so happy at this moment, and so anxious to move to Milwaukee and finally work on music again, and I have yet to see Black Heart Procession, Three Mile Pilot, or Enon. I love this weekend.

prima donna bartenders: FUCK OFF!

So I got really drunk last night, and when I asked to pay for my tab, I was met with a wall of attitude: "You already paid; get the fuck outta here," or something to that effect. I really didn't remember paying, and I assumed I also forgot to tip, hence the attitude. But why couldn't this guy be reasonable? If I forgot I paid him already, is it so unlikely that I would have FORGOTTEN to tip him too? All he had to say is, "Actually, you already paid us, and I noticed you didn't tip. Was there something wrong with the service?" And I would have said, "Oh, I'm very sorry. Here, let me tip you." I'm so sick of bartenders who think they have card blanc to treat you like shit simply because it's the weekend, and they don't want to be there. Look asshole, you chose this for yourself. I'm not responsible for your condition. Anyway, I said, "Can I at least get a receipt?" And after much shouting, and initially being ignored for this request, I got it. I just stuffed it in my pocket without looking - too drunk to care, I guess - I couldn't even find it when I looked for it this morning. But when I went online to check my bank statement, I saw a charge for $26.40. I only had 2 Delirium Tremens, and granted, that's expensive beer, but even if they cost me $10 each, I don't feel like that gives a bartender the right to reward himself with a 30% + tip.

Also, I know that there are at least 2 bartenders who read Killoggs, and you've always been great to me, thanks. And if at any time I didn't tip you, I didn't mean it, and please don't ever hesitate to point it out to me if I did.

calling the chicago savvy!

so.. i guess i have a date.

my first date in...wow, a long time, if you don't count that whole long relationship thing. i met a really nice boy who lives out in los angeles, where he is in school. we only hung out here for about a week, and then he left. but he has been calling me all the time and whispering the proverbial sweet nothings into my ears. it has been a good distraction, as a lot of other things here have been rather unpleasant. last night he surprises me with wanting to fly out to chicago for a long weekend in october so we can see each other.

he is constantly making lists, which i thought would be annoying, but isn't. last night's list was "the top 5 things i love about kaycee." ...and he really thoguht about it. i mean, it was a really damn good list! ...and maybe he's just trying to get into my pants but if he is, he is fucking adept at it.

so anyway, i have never been to chicago. i am tres excited about going! what should we do while we are there and, more importantly, can some reccomend a decent and so-so inexpensive hotel in a festive part of town?

any advice would be good, because i need to make some reservations and plans soon, if only because i am OCD about schedules, and am going to have enough on my plate getting my pick-up truck ready for the drive up there.

thanks everybody! i really, really appreciate it!

also, i want to come up to chicago again and meet the killoggs crop of you sometime, if thats ok...? i need to start taking advantage of this part of the world, instead of wanting to move so soon.
