dressing for success

I have a job interview Thursday, and hardly any decent clothes to wear. Finding a nice shirt and a pair of pants shouldn't be a problem, but what's a good place in DC to find dressy shoes? Nothing too expensive, just good quality.

Love letters across the frontlines

In war news today, the Prime Minister of Israel called Iran out,
and then Bush was all
"Gotcher back, Olmert, and we're watching you too, Syria. Back the fuck up!"

And despite the insane bleatings of left wing crank case Dennis Bernstein, who honestly believes that Hezbollah are the moral equivalent of the Black Panthers, there's obviously some merit behind Bush and Olmert talking tough.

Imagine if Guatemala and Honduras funded a militant political faction in Belize, which provoked a conflict with Mexico, and began shelling Cancun.
No one would bring up Chiapas.
Hell, how many of us even know what Chiapas is or what goes on there.

I've got cousins visiting Israel right now. Not too far from the border.
And I've got Lebanese friends with family there.
I'm trying not to care more about one group than the other.
We're not supposed to care about our own kin above our friends' kin, are we?

And yes, without any family connection at all, I'd be drawn to the Israel's side,
if only because their current enemies are the type that kill people over cartoons.
And also because Israeli children grow up beautiful.

But the thing that's been gnawing at my heart for the last several hours,
is that sometimes they do ugly things on the way.
