lightning is kind of the best thing ever.
i hung out with angele earlier today and she told me that some guy got struck through the heart by lightning recently and that he blew up and that there was blood all over the place afterwards. i've been thinking about that for the last couple of hours and i really don't think it's possible. at least not the way i can imagine it...
i was on a southbound train headed for DC the other day and i was drawing little pictures in a composition notebook with a blue pen and there were two train conductors on the train talking. Well, one of them was talking, and the other one was doing that thing that people do when they think you're annoying or crazy or a white person or something. That thing where they answer everything the other person says with "Oh yeah?" "Oh! Alright, alright..."
Well, my ears kind of perked up when I started listening to the guy who was talking cos it suddenly occurred to me that he was nuts. I drew what they were saying in my notebook:
You know I get depressed when I sit too long. I like to be working on projects, ya know?
Oh yeah?
Yeah, so I got this fake orange tree & I put it in the corner of my living room. And I tell ya, if you looked at this thing, you'd think it was a REAL orange tree!
Alright, alright...
Well, my wife saw it and shy was like "why do we need a fake orange tree in our living room?"
uh huh
So when she said that I got to thinking about it & decided it would look much better in the yard. So I planted it in the yard next to this other tree and put this toy giraffe between the two. And then I got these white rocks & crushed them up real fine like snow, you know, and ran it down the ledge by them. Those white rocks were expensive though.
Ya see though, if I wasn't humble enough to ask questions like how to do things like that I would never know how to do anything. And ya know that old saying that says something like "Everytime you learn something, you can bet you'll run into yourself down the line and have to explain it to yourself?
yeah, yeah...
Well a couple of weeks later I ran into this guy at the Home Depot with a basket full of feed & seed, and he came up and he asked me if I knew anything about landscaping. And man I tell ya it was just like I was talking to myself, you know, my self but like myself from before, ya know? You see my cousin he's real internet, and he's raising his kids to be internet too. He doesn't know a damn thing about landscaping though...
uh huh...
It's like that scene in the Color Purple. You know, the one where she's been beaten and abused her whole life? Raped as a younger woman, and forced to shave her abusive husband? Yeah, it's like that scene in the end where she runs into herself as a young girl. And she needs that scene to symbolize herself saying goodbye to herself so she can move past all that, ya know?
uhh. I think you need to watch that movie again... In the end of that movie she meets up with her sister Netty, man...
Wait, what?
That was her sister! Her sister, Netty! You know, her sister, from the beginning? Remember that part where she had been sending Whoopi letters the whole time from Africa, and he was hiding them from her? Yeah, man. That was her sister. She came in from Africa in the end...
Ohhh. See I always thought she was talking to a version of herself in the end and that that symbolized her being able to say goodbye to the little girl that had been abused by that awful man...
Naw man, that was her sister. You need to watch that movie again...
