Mark Yakich's new book...just in time for V-D...

Dearly Beloved Killoggers,

I have gathered you all here today on account of the birth of my new book of poems: THE MAKING OF COLLATERAL BEAUTY (Tupelo Press 2006).

This new book is a kind of doppelgaenger/bastard child to my first one, UNRELATED INDIVIDUALS FORMING A GROUP WAITING TO CROSS (Penguin 2004). That is, the new poems have the same titles as the originals, giving the alleged "stories" behind the originals. It's a typical Yakich affair.

Anyway, link to both books on the website, including sample poems:

Wonder what this one means....

I'm not really one for writing about my dreams on here but this one was too random to NOT make a note of:

It was all about Evan Dando being married to this Peruvian Amazonian lady who was like 3 feet taller than he was. At some point she dies and while reading her obituary I find out that her and I are related and she's a distant cousin. Then I get all excited and find Evan Dando to let him know I was related to his wife. He is all depressed and starts showing me old films of their wedding and photo albums with his kids. Then he offers me shark juice (WTF??) and he explains that it is a delicacy that he and his wife used to drink and we sit around and drink shark juice together.

Fucking weird.

my father rules

“I may disapprove of what you say but will defend to the death your right to say it.” – Voltaire

my father has been all over national news lately, due to his decision to publish the controversial cartoons in his newspaper. he is getting a lot of shit over it, but i am so very proud of him and his reasoning. inclosed in this post his his newest editorial, explaining why he chose to do what he did, despite enormous resistance.

did you know less than a dozen newspapers have published the cartoons? and that the AP Press refused to release them?

what kind of country are we becoming when when begin to become politically correct about information about the world?

i am really shocked about all this, and really fucking impressed with my father for being such a hardliner about freedom of the press and peoples right to SEE AND READ ABOUT whats going on in the world.

give the article a glance, ok?
