Yesterday I returned home from work to find a bunch of papers on my lawn, obviously someones garbage that blew into my front yard since it was a windy day. So I gather the papers and find that there are 3 pink checks (along with a few receipts) written out to different establishments, all from the same couple, Mr. & Mrs. Calamusa. The checks are written to Woolco, Clothing Palace, and Louisiana Gas. First I notice that the couples address is about 3 miles away from my house. The next thing that I found curious was that I hadn't heard of any of the companies the checks were written to. So I looked at the year the checks were written and couldn't believe my eyes...1975!
There is also a faint stamp on all of them that says "PROCESSED-MERCHANT SAVINGS & LOAN, KENNER, LA" (even further away from my house). It totally amazes me that someone wrote these checks 30 years ago and then they just show up on my lawn 30 years later. I keep wondering how they got there and can't wait to go home today to see what else I might find on my lawn.
I happened to be walking by my car and I noticed on the windshield what looked like a parking ticket.
It turned out to be a "vistim assistance/information form." I looked at all my windows and they appeared intact.
Then I noticed that the roof of my car looks like someone dropped a boulder on it.
What the fuck happened? Does someone have it in for me?
Apparently this form means that someone saw or heard something happening, and called the police.
Unfortunately, thanks to the rain, I can't read any of the information the police officer wrote down, other than vaguely officer "Howard" and "Destruction of Prop."
I guess now when I drive my head will brush the ceiling. great.
Thank goodness that it is unusaully cool out. Because I gots no electricity. I'm reduced to using my Blackberry for internet, when the network is actually up and running. And I can charge it up with the cigarette lighter thingy in my truck.
Speaking of my truck, I am also grateful that Wilma took all the rain with her when she left town. That' coz a large concrete roof tile committed suicide, leaped from the roof, and demolished Gracie's windshield. I have pics of that, as well as all the other damage, but can't upload them until power is retored. I was able to get on the local paper's website, and they're reporting that 98% of south Florida is without power. NINETY-EIGHT percent. And it could take FOUR WEEKS to get it restored. Do you know how batshit insane I will go if I am without power for a month? It's only been 36 hours so far and I'm losing my mind.
Well, at least insurance covers my windshield, and I've got some outfit coming by tomorrow to do that work. Then I'll be able to drive, so the cabin fever will be lessened to some extent.
Also, I miss my patio furniture. I had a brain fart and didn't bring it inside. I'm guessing it's halfway to Europe by now. It was just cheap green plastic stuff, but I used it every day.
Pertinent to something I'm trying to prove to Josh,
What do you like about killoggs that's better than myspace, blogger, friendster, LJ,
or any other content provider/discussion forum/social community online?
