Everyone knows it's windy

October 24th.

The TWENTY-FOURTH. OF FREAKIN' OCTOBER.

The hurricane has had me awake for 28 minutes now, because 28 minutes ago the power went out for the first of what I'm sure will be many times. I might not have noticed the outage were I a normal kinda guy, but since I have sleep apnea and have a CPAP mask strapped to my head while I sleep, I notice right away if the power goes out,

Power has gone out 7 times now, since I woke up. I'm already tired of this crap.

And, in the tradition of guilty self-pity, I sit here in my comfy AC and gripe on the internets about how inconvenient this hurricane is. People are gonna die, and the worst I will likely have to deal with is power outages. (And yes, the power went out while I was typing that last sentence. Thank God for UPSes.)

Actually, now that I'm thinking about the effects of this storm, the weather is screwing up my XM radio reception quite a bit, and THAT is tragic, people. TRA-freaking-GIC.

DC People: I need a second job.

Do you know anyone who's hiring? I'm just looking for something working with cool people, 12 to 20 hours/week, and I'm available after 3pm Thursday, 6pm Friday and all day Saturday & Sunday. If you know of an opening in the next couple of months, let me know. If I can make just an extra $200 to $300/month, I'll be set.

Thanks.

This frustrating story fragment

It's been rattling around in my head for a month now,
and I can't place the book that it comes from.
I thought it was the Ender's Game series but it's not.
So now I'm trying to decide if it's just a dream fragment that I convinced myself was a book...

This team of soldiers and analysts captures a psycopath being held by an asian gambling/drug cartel warlord who lives in the hills outside a city state in an area monitored by spy satellites and controlled by a Muslim government... All the details I can remember are in the responses...

Help please this is hurting my brain.
