the cost of noise

whats the most you have ever paid for a concert.. of any kind?

i want to go to one on saturday, but between the train fare and the cover (5000yen!!!!! = about 47 bucks...) this one is gonna run me about 100. unfuckingbelieveable!!!!! what happened to the 20 buck pocket.. enough to get in, buy a record, and get wasted?

i really wanna go, but i need someone to talk me into it, but since i will have to go alone, i am losing heart...

talk me into it someone!

(10:43:57) meredith: i had the weirdest dream thjs morning and you were in it
(10:44:52) josh: what was it about
(10:45:37) meredith: i think we were in high school or something, i was supposed to go to the prom with you but i ended up getting the flu and could not go. you were really mad and decided to take a drag queen instead
(10:46:06) meredith: later when i came to apologize i found the drag queen at your place who told me to stay away from "her" man
(10:46:30) meredith: when i eventually talked to you you told me you had decided you were into dudes and this was all my fault because i stood you up for the prom
(10:46:39) meredith: i tried to tell you i had the flu but you were totally pissed

My weekend...

Not that anyone cares. Friday night, we had a little HP Lovecraft Film Festival over Chris's house, Josh, Chris, I and some other good people. The best part about this was the older couple and the woman's stories about midgets and loaning her tenants money to get prostitutes. She also misunderstood me and that thought that I'd take a pygmy goat as a dowry fro a wedding. I also got a little drunk and irritated Chris because I stopped paying attention... what can I say? I missed him. Then saturday morning, Claire and I were off to Sperryville, Va. To hang with my brother, his wife, his 2 four year old twins, in from Pheonix and my Dad and his wife. Rushing there to only hit traffic on 66. If you've ever been out this way, you know there is NOTHING to do, and as it was Claire's first meeting of my family, I was stoked to do something. Once we showed up, there was a note saying they'd get back later. Bummer. They showed up and I convinced them to take us to Dinosaurland in Front Royal or something, it was weak, but the gift shop was intense. We then ate at Pizza Hut, I guess it was all we could agree on. Once it was dark we lit off some foreworks and then made a "campfire" and made S'mores. This got the kids a little fired up, so Claire and I decided to go get a drink and cool out somewhere. Nowhere, Not in Sperryville OR Luray was there an open bar at 9:30 on a Saturday night. We drove around until we thought the kids would be asleep. Sunday we awoke and cruised out to take a nap, then met up in York PA (after getting VERY lost) with Josh, Ben, Brad and some others for this pretty cool haunted house. The Haunted Mill wasn't as intense as I remember, but it was pretty cool...

yeah

These Walls Aren't Imaginary

These little lines on virtual paper, these meaningless scribbles that came out of the end of my pencil at 5 am on a summer morning,
after wailing and headaches took place on my living room couch,
these little lines will be neat rows of wooden sticks at the end of this week.

A few weeks after that they will be touchable walls that contain the life of a woman. They will be the backdrop to her family feasts, they will watch while she puts on makeup in the mornings. They will tremble slightly as doors are banged in them by visiting nephews. They will host works of art. Hopefully they will bring happiness.

They may have been warped and mutated by money and urgency and misguided construction desicions, they may not entirely resemble this drawing in their final, cool-white-plastered form, but they are mine. And they mean something!

So, today I finished my very first construction drawing entirely of my own design.

Soon it will actually be built.

And that feels pretty damn good.
