I also drew this centerspread the other day...(which i tried to get down in filesize as best i could.)
Baltimore CityPaper wrote to me earlier today to tell me that I won 2nd place in their comics contest. Although I would have liked to have won 1st place obviously, I'm happy to get the free $100.
I was thinking I should use the $100 to run my comic as an ad in their paper (kind of as a tribute to Buzz).
This will probably be the last time I get to check the nerdbox before I head out to Chicago on Friday afternoon with the venerable Ms. Lenora, Traveling Companion Extraordinaire, so:
Wow. I really am leaving my hometown. Fuck you, stagnation.
I don't have any regrets at this point at all and am really excited, though obviously of course I will miss a good portion of the people reading this.
I knew I wouldn't be prepared for it until the day actually came, and I'm still sort of a little bit stunned. To people who move around a little bit more, a move like this wouldn't be a big deal, but I've been in between DC and Baltimore essentially my entire life. I'm one of the few. For the last year, I've lived about three miles from the house I grew up in.
I've been paring down my material possessions so that they'll fit in the back of the minivan we're renting. I'm not taking any furniture with me. This afternoon, I'm selling my car.
See you when I get to Chicago, friends. I love y'all.
