There are two people I work with who rarely if ever say hi when I pass them. I'll say hello, and they'll make eye contact with me but won't say anything in return. Today, both of these people were walking together on the sidewalk when I was turning the corner. I said hello, as usual, and as usual, NEITHER of them said anything. Only a stare. What the fuck is that? If you're going to acknowlege someone's presence by making eye contact, why not just go that extra small step and say hello? Could a person have any reason other than, "I'm a jerk"? Both of these people are far from shy. And I have had brief, friendly chit-chat with these people before -- they're not adverse to talking to me altogether -- it seems to only be the simple hello they object to. Is this just some odd mannerism, common among East Coasters, that I'm not used to yet? Maybe I should just shrug this off, but it really bothers me.
Wow Mr. Quintron is amazing in concert. Miss Pussycat is sooo sexy too!
And as a bonus, there were all these freaky Louisiana people gathered together smooshing eachother at the show. Now that doesn't happen too often in Brooklyn.
Femi Kuti played Summerstage in Central Park on Sunday. Anyone ever been to Nigeria? I'd like to go. That was show was really really really good! Actually I am curious if anyone has seen Femi Kuti play in Louisiana... the comparison/contrast factor intriguies me.
Hooray for free and cheap music. Tomorrow/Wednesday Northern State is playing at South Street Seaport at 7pm-- wee wee free free. And Friday night Bill T. Jones' dance group will be at Summerstage. Yay.
