So, I'm recording this band...

...called Dear Advokate, a bunch of scrawny, wiry fancy-lads who play Taking Back Sunday-style emo pop. We started recording on tuesday and we hit it off. The vocal session was top notch and full of excitement on my part and theirs. For kids, (10th/11th graders) they were damn level headed, trying to get things done and not effing around too much. When we took breaks to chill, we talked like we were all the same age but like I was outside of my body, sighing and awww-ing while watching the three of us laugh and chat it up about bands and girls. They really took me back to the high school I never went to- it was rare to find anyone into (insert subculture here) in my class. I felt young sitting there with them even with my receeding hairline and one grey hair.

They cancelled recording yesterday and today and needed to reschedule.

When they explained that they didn't all didn't have cars or drivers licenses,
this flood of memories from my teens ran through my whole body like an intense orgasm.
For some reason, I felt guilty.
It was weird.

Anyway, I hope I get this excited to record bands all the time.

an very unmixed not final unedited mp3 is here.

the best thing that has ever happened to me.

Every month, I do the search. Every month, it is fruitless, and I am disappointed. Month after month after month.

For years.

Until now.

Not this month, not this month. It's taken half of a decade to complete this quest... but the greatest, most significant void in my life, has finally been filled.

I honestly can't articulate how much I love our good friends down under for making this possible... for giving me such sheer, utter joy.

Shock 'Em Dead is out on DVD.

Street Angel

This is a pin up I did for the new TPB collection of Jim Rugg and Brian Maruca's Street Angel, which is an excellent, unpretentious, fun comic that people should read, if they aren't. (it's about a homeless 14 year old girl who skates and fights ninjas and satanists and hunger and boredom, etc)

Better late than never

I was bored yesterday, and I was skimming through various Killogg member's post archives when I realized that I had never made a formal introduction to Killoggs. I do know a few people on here, but the majority of you I have never met. So, accept my apology for my tardiness on the introduction....here goes!

Hello Killoggs, I'm Nelson. I have been reading the site from time to time since it's inception in the summer of 2000. I'm the notorious Rick's brother, and he's the one who first told me about the madness and mayhem going on here. Some of you also know my sister Heather(who is also a member, although she has never posted).I first met Josh my freshman year of high school. I have been friends with Jad(another rare poster) since high school. These are my Killoggs connections, and now onto random details about moi.

-I live in the Upper Haight district in San Francisco with four roomates. I love my neighborhood, and my city.

- I went to a Big Lebowski theme party with Arnie a few weeks ago. There was a guy with the huge scissors from the Dude's drugged/dream sequence. That made my night.

-I went to a show in New Orleans one night with Josh seven years ago, which was the same night he met Ben. The world shall never be the same.

- I studied in Germany and Austria for eight months in 2000 and 2001, and loved it. I want to move back to somewhere in Europe within the next few years.

-I am planning on re-enacting the battle soon between the two Yoshimi and the Pink Robot so eloquently described by the Flaming Lips on the album of the same title. I think a friend and I will do this at the Cable Car turnaround here in San Francisco. I love fucking with the tourists here.

-My favorite American writer is Henry Miller.

-I yearn for the day that I will have a head on Killoggs. The question mark is starting to drip down my spine, and it's really messing with my coherency.

-I really like Kara's writing style. I always enjoy reading her posts.

Anything else you would like to know about me; feel free to ask.
Also, if anyone else is into any shade of electronic music on here, I would be into trading mix cd's.
