Camera geeks, advice please!

I have broken my digital camera, and this makes me sad. Although I have been going thru (and continue to) some tough economic times, I am about to turn the corner and should have enough discretionary income to purchase a new camera soon. I've done some looking around, and have come up with this as the current object of my desires:

Specs are here. The main draws for me are the 10X optical zoom, the fact that it actually *feels* like a camera (I have taken a few pictures with one, although I never got to see them), and the really nifty pop-up flash. When I first started looking, I was intimidated by the price. Amazon's got 'em listed at $350 right now, but it was $400 not too long ago. They have resellers with it at $325, but looking on Froogle today, I saw the site linked above has it at $235. Shoot, that's not a whole lot more than I paid for my crappy HP photosmart camera.

So. Anyway, does anyone have any direct or anecdotal evidence of why this would be a bad buy? I know a lot of people prefer smaller size, but when it comes to cameras, I really like the feel of the old-school SLRs, and this one has that in spades. Any other drawbacks you can think of?

Thanks!

Does anyone need anything frome me?

I love to give.

I can offer anything from making simple phone calls to people you don't feel like calling back, to more complex things like helping you with your math.

it will work like this:

you come up with something you'd like me to do for you. i will agree to it and will seriously convince myself that i will have time for it, but then i won't.

several months will pass, and you will get nothing.

Serial

Cocoa Puffs are good.
So far, that is the only thing I know for sure.
A few hours ago, I thought I wouldn't get to these Cocoa Puffs tonight. Their sugary crispy goodness didn't seem appealing to me at the moment.
A bath and some bong hits later, I changed my mind. I changed my appetite, rather.
"Why not, Kara?," I shrugged to myself. "Now is as good of a time as any. You can't wait forever." And so:
Cocoa Puffs are delicious.
I enjoyed every crunchy bite of that bowl of cereal. I tried not to eat too slow, lest it get... soggy. I enjoyed the sweet cool chocolatey milk at the bottom of the bowl.
I am pretty sure I have had Cocoa Puffs some time as a child. I know its not a cereal that my mom ever bought, and I don't know if I will ever buy it again. Still, I am looking forward to the rest of this box of cereal.
I think I will make a point to rotate my genres of cereals. This time it's chocolate. Maybe next week I will get something fruity or honey-flavored or healthy .
If I'm going to try every single kind of cereal, I need to have a system. I need to chart a course. This is a commitment. This is my cereal options for years to come. Once I kiss Froot Loops goodbye, I might not get a chance to buy them again unless there's a drastic flavor change.
I enjoyed that bowl of Cocoa Puffs. That was a decent start. Fate only knows what lies ahead.
