long time no see

"Yeah, so I live down in Fells Point, and I don't know if you have a boyfriend or anything but..."
"Yes," I said. "Yes I do."
It had been so long since I'd found myself in that situation; waiting for a moment to work those words into a conversation. I'd thought of a dozen ways. "I'm from the D.C. area, and my boyfriend lives down there..." "I love that restaurant, I went there with my boyfriend...",
Luckily for me, he finally asked.

"You look so skinny!" I heard that one a lot tonight. Yeah... skinny chest, big ass. No fun. I've spent so many years wishing to be thinner. Here it is. "Yes I am so skinny! I'm also diseased!" I wanted to say that to everyone, but I just thanked them. I wanted to say: "I throw up a lot! I crap every time I pee! I feel like a disgusting excuse for a human being! The least sexual ever!!" I didn't say any of that. I thanked them.

A girl spent a long time in the bathroom. When I came in after her, i found this on top of the toilet:

Maybe she thought she could rent movies. Maybe she was cutting coke. Who am I to say?

I talked to a guy on the street, on my way home. He had a cup of tea. He said he couldn't sleep for days. He looked crazy to me. He was born in 1969. As I began to speak, I took out my knife. I opened it and locked it open, and put it back into my pocket. I spoke to him as I did this, looking into his eyes. I told him that I too have problems sleeping. I used to drink a lot, I said. Nowadays, I don't know what to do with myself. He nodded with extreme interest, perhaps amazed at the fact that someone was listening to him. I thought that his pupils were very small considering that is was 2am.

I slept until noon today. I wish that sleep was like saving money, and I would be refreshed tomorrow from the sleepthat I saved up last night.

Nope.

Tomorrow will be hell.

New Yankskee

I find myself in NYC right now for work and need some advice on things to do/see. Don’t know how loose the company leash will be, but I need options to ponder as I dream of balancing a mundane corporate existence and a swinging nightlife.

212 / 718 Killoggers send me some suggestions, I will be in Manhattan until Sunday.

Come to think of it...

I'm a pretty decent guy. I have a stable job, I have two kittens who love me, and I am quite competent in fixing computers. I'm also pretty good with networking and am learning a lot about phone systems. I don't have any (visible) warts. Haha! Actually, I don't have any warts at all! So in summation, I'm an okay Joe.

I Heart Kicking Things

I know this is not incredibly interesting, but I just wanted to tell everyone how much I love love love my new martial arts class.

I love my drill sergent like instructor. I love that I go home tired and am sore the next day. I love the friendly people in my class. I love that I can TELL I'm getting better. I love kicking things Buffy-style and I even love my too-big gi suit. Especially now that I can tie the belt correctly without referencing the little instruction page.

So thanks to everyone who responded in my initial asking-for-input post. It was really helpful in actually causing me to walk in and sign up. Which is really always the hardest part for me.

How Awesome

I just caught a glimpse on CNN of the top 5 most admired U.S. companies. Starbucks, Walmart, G.E., Southwest Airlines and something else that I forgot (if you know let me know). In 1994, when I was a freshman at Trinity University in San Antonio I wrote a detailed research paper about Southwest Airlines. I described the ways they increased their profit margins, and predicted that they would be very succesful. My professor was an idiot who liked to teach overly-complicated, elitist theory. He gave me a C. My dad, formerly CFO of Community Coffee, indirectly taught me much more about money than that joker could ever understand. I've never seen my dad drink a up of coffee in my whole life, but that's another story. Anyway, today several smaller airlines like Jet Blue and US Air follow Southwest's techniques.

I Will Trade Ya! - Fair Trade Mix

Okay so this picture is a little easier to see when it is bigger, but I meant it to be a play on "trade" since bananas are big trade to come into new orleans' port...and well it's just a desperate use of a picture frankly. This is a banana bourbon cake I made and we took a picture to show how "similar" it looked to the real thing. oh god, i'm tired. no, it's too late for coffee folks.

My point...

I want to do a trade with someone, anyone really.

I just made a cd for this sole purpose. It's finished and it comes as is folks. It is full of new and old indie tunes. I would like to trade it for anything really, preferably a mix cd or any small art or creative thingy. If you are a girl and are thinking that you would rather a more girly mix, I am thinking of doing a bad arse girly mix. again, julie, i am sending you your mix this WEEK!

Here is the set list.

KATE'S KILLOGGS FAIR TRADE MIX

Twilight Creeps - Crooked Fingers
Back to the Lake - Guided By Voices
Hot Chocolate Boy - Beat Happening
Car and Driver - Rock*A*Teens

The World Is a Disco Ball - Future Bible Heroes

Yo, I got this box in the mail from Dave today

...and I was like, "OH MY GOD! Ouuuiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!"

Thank you, Dave, for giving the gift of French! I will send you some mix CDs in return if you like the math and the indie rocks. Otherwise, I could make you a VHS copy of "Lionman" if you like bad French-Canadian barbarian movies. Perhaps I will just piece together a variety care package over the next month or so and surprise you.

Hot Thespian Action

This was at the Black Cat tonight.

If there weren't a delicious pancake brunch in the works for Sunday, I'd totally make the trip down to Richmond for this!
