In The Year 2005 I hope to...

  • Get more heavily involved in photography.
I am working on this. Last year I managed to get a digital SLR and do freelance work for Washington Post Express. This year I want to do work for my day job and continue to freelance. Part of my plan is to learn more about studio lighting and aquire a studio lighting kit. I want to do a variety of shoots to learn how to light well, how to shoot with a digital SLR, and just get my craft up, to prepare for doing some ideas that I have that I think could be really ood. Also, Ben and I may collaborate on a photo project.
  • Travel more.
I didn't take enough trips in the 04 (though I made it to NYC several times, I mean FURTHER). In the 05 I want to visit California, AT LEAST. If not someplace foreign.
  • Handle the label well.
I have several releases slated for this year. I want to keep pushing forward with the label, keep getting more exposure, keeping putting out bangers..
  • Get logjamming organized better, move it to a new provider.
We want to get our own colo for LJ, and also get the business side worked out.
  • Rip my entire CD collection to MP3.
I have a million CDs that I never listen to, because they are all stowed away. I want to rip them all to MP3s. I will try to just do a few a day. It will be like getting all new music because I haven't heard most of them in forever. Also, since my CDs seem to get stolen a lot, maybe I can just keep burns in my car so I don't lose music.
  • Upgrade Killoggs & recordnerd.com, create mailchains.org
    maybe in the 05.
  • Exercise.
In the 04, Ben and I both started exercising. I have managed to mostly keep with it, though I will go through periods of falling off. I hope to keep at it and get more cut in the 05. I would like to get as close as possible to doubling the amount of weight I can comfortably lift, and gain 10-15 pounds.
    Read more books, seriously.
  • Eat better, eat less sugar.
I don't want to lose my teeth, ya heard me?
  • Get drunk less.
Not necessarily drink less, but I'd just prefer to be able to remember everything that happens in 2005, except for perhaps special occassions like my birthday.
  • Make more stickers and shirts
I love stickers and want to make lots more in the 05. Such cheap fun!

    Little Shirley Beans

Little Shirley Beans is the only girl on the planet with a rotary phone. Customer service companies tried to drive her and her rotary phone off a cliff so they wouldn't have to say "please stay on the line if you have a rotary phone" and then connect her to a real person in Madras, India, but she and her rotary phone survived. Even though she can't dial into radio contests quickly enough to win, she keeps it because it sends a digital signal - the wave of the future. "The irony of rotary verses touch-tone is that rotary dials produced DIGITAL data that was used by the equipment in the central office whereas today's modern touch-tone dials produce ANALOG signals."

Believe it or not, I discovered today that this was about to come out on DVD, and am now totally psyched.

I haven't seen it since I was in the single digits.
