This was a pretty good weekend.
Friday, I went to Great Falls, VA to watch movies with my friend Sara. She was housesitting in a mansion. A literal mansion, with an automatic gate and a jacuzzi and like 3 floors and ritzy furniture and appliances and two porches in the two car garage as well as a few SUVs and just a lot of ridiculous stuff. The owner apparently is a screenwriter.
We ended up mostly playing with their adorable, but badly trained dogs, a rott and a retriever. I love dogs. Though one of the dogs likes to literally eat shit and that was pretty gross. Also the same one barks at you if you don't look at it. And they both love to assault furniture. Rich people need to train their dogs!
Saturday, I bummed around the house, ate at Udupi Palace with Brad, cleaned some, ran some errands, then Brad and I went to my friend Jennifer's art opening at Transformer Gallery. It was so packed but Brad managed to score some wine anyway. I stood outside and talked with Angela and Alison, who are in Crystal's band THE PARTY LINE. Me and Brad bailed to go get some coffee at Sparky's. On the way we ran into Angela again, and Daisy! Daisy invited us to go to Saint Ex with them, so we got our coffee, then met her over there. Her friends were eating really awesome looking food and me and Daisy chatted about various nerdy things.
Me and Brad wanted to go to see Sean's band NAVIES play at the Warehouse, but Daisy and her friend didn't want to come, so we ate at the Black Cat then I dropped them off at Crystal's, though Daisy forgot how to get there like three times(!!!).
The show was great, Navies were awesome, it was a good time.
After, we went to Erica and Sean's to hang out. Anthony wrestled Matty B. We ate fries and drank beers. There was some band staying there called "Almost the Runner" or "Always the Runner", who was from Baton Rouge!!! It was really weird and they know some people from Killoggs. What a weird coincidence.
Sunday, Brad, Ben, Sonny and I ate at Barnside and read Juxtapoz. I watched Ocean's Eleven to get psyched for seeing the sequel, then I went to the Black Cat early to catch the Medic/Darkest Hour sound check. Good times, and missing the line was crucial. I ate some chili, watched Medic, who were fucking great (and who the crowd seemed really into), then laughed at the spin-kicking two step dancing of the kids for Between the Buried and Me (who weren't terrible or anything, but the dances their fans were pulling out were really silly, though fun to watch) and then had a great ass time when Darkest Hour played - they played all my favorite songs, though their XM radio advertising was a little silly. I guess they are in the big leagues now.
After Denman and Anthony and I tried to go to Ben's Chili Bowl, but it was closed. In other news, as of this show the 1st pressing of the Medic CD is SOLD OUT. Time to make the donuts.
