i voted and now i am on the lamb

Awhile back I contemplated and discussed the merits of voting with the killogs community. Convinced, resolved to vote, I googled for voting in Texas but was cockblocked! Texas only would allow me to vote absentee 60-days in advance since I am a registered voter there. Seeing that the price of exercising my democratic right would be that of a plane ticket my resolve soon "flip-flopped".

November surprise! I found out yesterday I can vote on a presidential only ballot in Connecticut even if I am not a registered voter in that state. All I would have to do is show up at the town hall and prove I lived in my town with a utility bill. Stuck five miles away at work I was once again discouraged, the price of exercising my democratic right would now be that of a cab ride.

So I devised a cunning plan. I would use my corporate American Express bill that comes to work, and simply walk to the town hall here in Stamford and claim I live at work. It worked, I voted. There is the problem of a little disclaimer on the bottom suggesting fraudulent information could result in a 1 to 5 year prison sentence, but hell if our solders can die out in the field I can risk jail time right?

So I've packed up and I'm on the run, convinced they are after me. I do intend on going somewhere I know they will never look, I'll be going there tonight.

That little secret hideout is better know as :

"DEMOCRACY PLAZA"

I'll be down there getting high as the states on ice light up blue and red to denote our next great emperor. If anyone wants to meet up there give me a shout.

Vice City

Sorry for the misleading title as this post has absolutely nothing to do with a certain popular extremely violent video game.

Over the last week and a half or so I had been craving a cup of coffee. Nothing big right? I mean millions of people all over the world crave a cup of coffee in the morning all the time, there's an entire industry devoted to just that need.

Okay but see as far back as I can remember I've always HATED coffee. I didn't even like the smell. But for some reason I woke up each morning craving a cup o' joe. So yesterday I gave into my craving. On my way to the bank I stopped by a Seattle's Finest (or something like that) and bought a cup.

And I liked it.

Now that, to me, wasn't even the interesting part. I actually blame this craving on me becoming a Dr. Pepper addict last year. I had always HATED Dr. P but one day last year I just absolutely had to have a bottle and haven't gotten sick of the stuff yet. I like soda but more often than not I'll take juice or tea over soda. Dr. Pepper's the only one I drink compulsively. So I think the addiction to the caffeine in that crap has spread like a virus and has now evolved.

Anyway, as I was saying the fact that I A) obsessively had to have a cup of coffee and B) liked it wasn't even the most interesting aspect of this whole new change. After drinking the coffee I absolutely had to have a piece of chocolate. So much so that I stopped by a 7-11 to buy a Ghiardelli (sp?) square (with caramel.)

Later on yesterday I had a second cup from Caribou I again did not feel right unless I followed up my cup of coffee with a piece of chocolate.

So I don't think this is necessarily a straight up addiction to coffee more than it is an addiction to the sensation of eating a piece of chocolate (preferably something with both chocolate and caramel) immediately thereafter. But then again I do really want to drink more coffee, I've even begun to look at those coffee brewers where you put the beans in and push that plunger thing down...oh screw it one of these things. (I really only want one 'cuz I saw it on Queer Eye. So maybe it's not that I want coffee maybe it's something else. Maybe I'm in desperate need of a makeover by the Queer Eye guys. Ha! Bet you thought I was going to say something else didn't you? No questions about my sexuality. No sirree Bob. Not here. Nope, none at all...)

I'm going now, I've got some serious introspection to do. Anyone wanna meet me at Cosi?

The Official Killoggs Exit Poll Post

Don't be shy, let's find out once and for all if Killoggs is a Red Site or a Blue Site.

Members and Troll... I mean regular responders are welcome to contribute

Post whom you voted for in the comments. And for the sake of clarity, please, be nice and argue your positions in other posts. There are already like 100 different posts about the election. I, myself, promise to withhold all crankery, buffoonery, snideness, insults, etc. So should you.

Disen-french-fried

Not to steal Brandon's thunder, because that is so not my intention, but this was my experience today, and I fell like posting about it, damnit.

I attempted to vote for Kerry/Edwards.

I have no idea if it will ever be counted. As expected, my requested absentee ballot never got here. So I went to my local polling place. I walked in and actually interrupted a pollworker's cellphone conversation because NO ONE was in line, so she had to look me up in the list immediately.

She was about 90, and almost needed a defibrillator when she found my name on the list, but was presented with the ominious bolded capitalized entry at the end of the line, where I should have placed my signature: ABSENTEE BALLOT MAILED AND RECEIVED.

She literally started shaking. She called the poll-boss over and they conferred. I was told that I might have a problem in attempting to vote, because THE LIST said that I was trying to pull some shenanigans.

I assured them that I had indeed requested an absentee ballot, but had not received it, nor had I returned it. I asked politely (because they were both approaching conniptions) if the RECEIVED notation meant that my absentee ballot had actually been received, filled out, at the election supervisor's office. Neither one knew.

By this time, my conversation with these women had drawn the attention of a lady who was obviously one of those observers you heard about. She started to try to interject something, but was actually shouted down by the pollworkers. I was, to say the least, a little taken aback. As much of a jackass as I am online, I'm really a non-confrontational kinda guy. I expected to have to have my vote cast by provisional ballot. So I mentioned that, and the poll-boss grudgingly started to cave. The observer lady tried to intercede further, but I was beyond it at this point. When poll-boss agreed to let me vote provisional, I went with that.

So I jumped through the hoops, sat with the biscuit on my nose until I was given the command word, and eventually dropped the provisional ballot into the box.

On the way out of the polling place, I was approached by the observer lady.

She told me that I'd allowed myself to be screwed. Only, in more polite terms. By Florida law, I had the right to make poll-boss call the supervisor of elections' office to verify whether or not my absentee ballot had been returned and counted. Crap. I thought I'd researched this inside and out. Apparently not. Bottom line, she asked if I wanted to file a grievance. Being the realist that I am, I demurred. By the time my challenge got ignor... err... considered, the election would be over. So I just have to hope that the Powers Of Democracy will see fit to figure out my absentee ballot was not filled out and returned, and my provisional ballot will be counted.
