Roger Dodger & seeing movies with your siblings

Hmm, no "movies" category. I guess "summer fun" will do?

A harmless movie discussion from the DS:

Julie: I want to see Garden State, and so does my brother, but we kind of icked out on the idea of going together. I think this is total Date Movie territory. Damn.

Courtney: I saw Garden State with my brother. I guess we're comfortable enough with each other to do that. We also watched Roger Dodger last week. Anyone ever seen it? (Yes this does relate to dating :P )

Julie: I really loved Roger Dodger.

And I'm sure I've seen "date" movies with my brother, it was just funny that when I suggested seeing it both of us were like, Um... naahh.

Milky: Jules, I didn't dig Roger Dodger. It didn't do anything for me.

Julie: I think I've loved almost every movie I've seen Campbell Scott in. So this may be a factor in my liking RD. But I thought the kid was great, and Isabella Rosselini of course was wonderful. Was it the story line that bothered you? Or the acting? Just curious.

Courtney: I love my brother, but I don't love my brother.

Milky: The storyline. I loved the actors...the acting was fine. The stoty didn't do it.

Josh: 1. roger dodger literally made mary vomit because teh camera is so shaky.

2. caitlyn who used to respond here a lot, her brother directed it.

3. i like campbell scott.

4. i liked roger dodger.

Courtney: so josh, in short: you liked it so much, but it made you vomit.

heh.

Campbell Scott is awesome.

Zack: TAKE IT TO THE FRONT PAGE!!

courtney: all right, all right

Look at these fucking people

Here's one of the best ads I've seen in quite a while. Yes, I'm bored enough at work to peruse craigslist personal ads. (Sometimes even from other cities!) I've always been obsessed with personal ads-- since I was like 12. And before you type it, you should know that any kind of suggestion that I write to this dude will go over like a lead zeppelin. I can't and won't date someone I met online, period. So I'm just going to post Prince Charming's ad here, and then forget about it in a week or so. It's pretty good, though, no?

Ever catch yourself thinking that while out on the town? I sure do. Jesus christ, look at them!

Let's go window shopping together. I'll grin appreciatively at your snarky comments about that dude wearing the flip flops; you'll swoon when I lean down from the great height of a little over 6', come in close and run my tongue around your ear. Actually, you won't, since I won't. Who really wants a tongue in her ear? But what about a mean-spirited whispered nothing in a flicker of hot breath? Well, I'm sure we'll work something out.

We can have some fun, and possibly change the world in an insignificant way. I'm just guessing, but my thought is that between us we'll have pretty rad taste in alcoholic beverages, scummy dive bars, weird music, and books and movies and all kinds of other stuff. But let's take this slow and just start with the booze and bars.

A few minor details: Be super smart. Try not to make fun of me -- that's what other people are for. To be made fun of, by wonderful you, I mean. Who would ever make fun of me, anyway? Hmm. Yeah, be kind of good looking. I am. And I'm in pretty good shape, or, at least, you might think so if you just looked at me on the street. I'd like it if you were that way, too. Might be easiest just to send a picture; I will be happy to reciprocate.

A major point: I don't like republicans.

Never a dull day.

I just got home from the store a little while ago. After putting away a box of "gogurt" and some checkout-girl-recommended malt liquor, I passed by my answering machine and discovered a message from the FBI. Why can't I have a normal job, particularly one that ends at 5pm?
