Weekend roundup

We had intended to leave for NYC around 8pm friday night, but we had heard that Black Eyes' show at the Black Cat was to be their last, so we went there first. We ended up leaving at around 2am... Driving through the night listening to the precious few CDs in my car, fighting off sleepiness. We stopped at a rest stop that advertised many things to eat, but all that was open was Burger King. The people working there hated it and made that obvious. Extreme Makeovers played on the TV. Ben got two pressed pennies. I spilled coffee. We started again. Evan called to ask if we were close and I said "120 miles!" I started to get tired again as day broke and the only thing that saved us from impending doom was Soophie Nun Squad and their singalong anthems. We finally pulled in, and talked with Evan from his window while he was naked before he buzzed us in. We chatted, slept, woke. He made us coffee. We went to a Kinkos to meet Dima. Ben, Laura and Scott walked slow. We ate Pizza and I also had garlic knots. We went to the show at ABCNORIO. Exosus was there, we palled around with them, ran into Andrew. We walked around NYC, then Evan called to ask where we were so we headed back. Everyone else went to Meet The Johnsons, a bar we go to there, but I went and saw Exosus and rocked out, then rocked out to Medic as well. Sonny pretended I was a vampire and tried to stab me through the chest with his bass. He threw me in the air, I was airborn. Every time they struck a note, dust fell from the ceiling. The cops came and told us to chill out because there was someone on the roof. The rock show ended. I tried to convince people how rad the ferryboat is. Rebecca wanted to go, and Sonny. Everyone broke off and ate. We went to Meet the Johnsons for $2 beers. We could bring food in, and most of us did. We met up with Heather. They found a huge birthday card for Heather. I had a tiger tail that Medic gave me and people kept pretending was a penis. I had a great burrito. We left to go to the ferry. We rode it and had $2 beers. There was a guy there who was tripping and ben had glowsticks and gave them to him, he was happy. We left mocking messages on Rebecca and Allen and Sonny's voicemails saying how awesome the ferryboat was. We got off, and had to run to get back on. We got off again and Sonny called and was like 'we're at the ferryboat' so we ran and got on AGAIN. There were Europeans who we took pictures with and Rick palled with. We drank more $2 beers. We went back to Evan's. I slept on the subway. We got Egg & Cheese. We slept. We got up and drove home. We ate Cinnabon. We listened to the radio, it was all Jane's Addiction, Jay-Z, Outkast and Guns and Roses.

It was a good weekend.

Tall trees in Georgia

Tall trees in Georgia,
They grow so high
They shade me so
And sadly walking
Through the thicket I go

The sweetest love I ever had
I left aside
Because I did not want
To be any man's bride
But now I'm older
And married I would be
I found my sweetheart
But he would not marry me

When I was younger
The boys all came around
But now I'm older
And they've all settled down
Control your mind my girl
And give your heart to one
For if you love all men
You'll be surely left with none

Tall trees in Georgia,
They grow so high
They shade me so
And sadly walking
Through the thicket I go

The extraction of Teeth

I went to the dentist today, and it was the first time in four years. Naturally, I was nervous, even more nervous since I chipped my upper left wisdom tooth last week.

My dentist was a Vietnamese lady in her mid-30's. She had braided pig tails, was wearing pink eye shadow, and she was wearing sandals with socks. She asked me what prompted my visit and asked me if I was nervous, to which I whimpered my affirmation.

X-rays ensued as I knew they would. Waiting. Waiting. It always intrigued me how dentists always worked on many patients at once. Drilling. More waiting. Finally my dentist shows up to re-do a few x-rays, as I knew she would.

Finally x-rays are finished and she says they look ok. Then she looks into my mouth, takes one look at my chipped wisdom tooth, and tells me that to fix my tooth would involve a root canal. Ugh. She does not do root canals on wisdom teeth, and tells me I will have to see a specialist. I ask about tooth extraction. She recommends I have all four wisdom teeth removed instead of the root canal. I painfully acquiesce, and then she gives me the referral number to her oral surgeon.

The hygienist then scrapes and polishes away at the remaining, non-chipped teeth. They feel clean. Yummy. Too bad I can still feel the gaping void in my back wisdom tooth.

Now I must call and make my appointment. I am wondering if I should have all of my wisdom teeth removed at once, or if I should do them one side at a time. They both have their ups and downs.

Anyone have any interesting wisdom tooth removal anecdotes?

For Dianne's going-away party, we're going to have a big stuff swap on Saturday, April 17, at my house. Starting about 8 p.m. I'll provide the food and booze. You bring your unwanted crap.

Whatever we don't trade and buy ourselves will be sold Sunday, April 18, at a garage sale on my front yard.

marriage.

I just found out that my ex that I lived with for three years and was at one point engaged to is getting married in a few months. She called me and made sure I wasn't at work when she told me, which was nice of her. I was the first one she told, so she could hear it from me and in case I got upset. Which I'm not, but it's still sort of... melancholy. Like that part of my life is now so far away...

I guess it doesn't help that I'm missing someone else who is currently far away, and that my personal/love life is so disjointed lately.

I don't know. Life is a strange place. I'm not sure I have a handle on it yet, but I think I'm slowly getting more accustomed to it.

Some of my favorite cartoons

I have been watching a bunch of cartoons lately. They include:

Invader Zim
Aqua Teen Hunger Force
Aeon Flux
Reign the Conqueror
Transformers
Animatrix

I also want to find The Maxx, but I don't think it has been released on DVD.

What are some other good cartoons that are worth checking out?
