shitpissdamn.

today is wretched for absolutely no good reason. that bunny died and i insulted a variety of mexicans by thinking they were speaking spanish when they were talking to me in english and i have to read about greedy maniacal corporate tycoons who spend millions buying bad art rather than thousands on mine.
i just hate this minute. i miss my friends. im tired of feeling like a college dropout who dropped back in 1/2 a decade too late. plus i hate that so many people simply go crazy. i hate going crazy. it happened once and it was the worst. i would rather weigh three hundred pounds than go crazy again. anyhow. i'm just sad about the bunny..... cricket.

I'm scared, therefore I shoot

A statistical refutation of the mythical danger police officers face when they go to work, courtesy of the BLS:

The 10 most dangerous jobs in America

Timber Cutters; 105;122.1
Fishermen; 52; 108.3
Pilots; 230; 100.8
Structural Metal Workers; 47; 59.5
Extractive Occupations (miners); 69; 53.9
Roofers; 65; 30.2
Construction Workers; 288; 28.3
Truck Drivers; 852; 27.6

All Occupations; 5,915; 4.3

The first number is the total number of on-the-job deaths. The second is the fatality rate, in deaths per 100,000 people employed.

Where do cops rank? 142 police officers died on the job in 2000 for a fatality rate of about 17. Fifty of those deaths were homicides. The most likely cause of on-the-job death for a law officer? A car accident, just like for the rest of us.

The false *perception* of danger (aka paranoia) is a big cause of the police brutality problems we are uncovering.
