Today is Rini's Birthday. Happy Birthday Rini.

Hello. I have to make this quick. First, Happy Birthday to Rini. Rini Bell has a Bacon Rating of 2. I can't wait until Ghost World comes out. It looks very true to the comic book. They don't have much up on their site yet, but it's here for future reference. Also, Linus sent me a copy of a picture from the upcoming live action Scooby Doo movie. Wow. What a great idea. The picture he sent me didn't work, but it inspired me to find this page which I'm guessing is equally funny.

Hmmmm. What else? I just got a message from my supervisor here at CityPaper. It says:
*** **** called. He said he'd worked with you before. Needs freelancer for band stuff / Dischord Records...
Damn I'm a lucky bastard, eh? I'm hoping that this pans out... I also got a raise here last week. I showed up two hours late to work, and they gave me a raise. I started a new job here tonight. I'm now designing ads and laying out stories. It's a lot like the Reveille.

What else? There's a lot of stuff coming up soon. I have a meeting with the marketing director of Visions Cinema (the place I used to work) on Thursday. She wants to talk to me about being my "agent". Sounds good to me. I hope it works out. She set me up an interview with another newspaper called "On Tap" (that circulates through the DC bar scene) about submitting weekly cartoons. Sounds like my audience. After I meet with her, I'm going to go down to the Mall cos I heard there was a free showing of animated shorts at the Hershorn. On Friday, I'm going to see some animated shorts by Rachel Max. The DC Independent Film Festival is this week (also at Visions). I met Rachel Max yesterday. I gave her a bunch of comic books. The first thing she said when she saw my comics was "Hey. This stuff reminds me of Don Hertfeldt's". I fear I will forever be compared to Don Hertzfeldt, which is not a bad thing by any means. Don Hertzfeldt is awesome. Rejected just got nominated for an academy award. How cool is that? Anyway, Rachel Max was cool. I'm glad there are other animators in DC. I'n fact, she is my new favorite person in DC. Maybe we'll work on a collaboration one day...On Saturday, I'm going to go up to Baltimore to show my portfolio to a classical animation school. It's a school that teaches strictly film animation. The classes are really cheap too. I want to take classes there mainly so that I will get off my ass and start making films. Ever since I discovered it, ideas for animated shorts have been flying out of my ass. Now it's just a matter of editing them down to just the good ideas. Blah. On Saturday night there is a post Mardi Gras party that my friend Cesar invited me to. Post Mardi Gras party? Got me? DC is weird. Write to me if you want to trade CD's...

Drippy

Here's another post test. Josh just used the phrase "rock-block" on his show. For those of you who noticed or care, I managed to keep my job by the most unethical situation. My kids forged my name and wrote up a fake absentee slip -in cases when you've forgotten to sign in, this is how the office knows if a teacher is present or not - later when the office called to ask why I had not signed in one of my students impersonated me and told them that I would sign in later in the day, after classes. What can you do? The current blackmail is set at 10percent of my salary. In a way I guess they *earned* it.

Executions for $4.95

This was posted on my mailing list and I thought it was an interesting question (or group of them):

1.Should Timothy Mc Veigh be executed?
2.Should the injection, by lethal injection, be televised? (they are actually
talking about having it available on pay-per-view!)
3.Would you watch it? Honestly, would you, if you could?

I'll post my answers in the responses, so as to minimize tainting of your thoughts.

BUGGY BALLS!

hmmm....

This has to be the funniest novelty item you can attach to a vehicle yet! It looks like a big set of testicles dangling from the back of your car or truck! They're flesh colored, over 8" long, 5" wide and weigh almost a pound! I attached mine using a hinge so they swing back and forth when I stop or go. Great reactions from people driving behind you, or when parked in a parking lot! Great for trucks, muscle cars, or any vehicle you want to add some BALLS to. With these, you WILL get noticed!

Ricky was a young boy. He had a heart of stone

A couple of things:

1) "This is an Aderol week" -statement overheard in the Quadrangle made by some eager beaver student.

2) From News of the Weird:
"Police in Danville, Ky., reported that on Jan. 28 a Dairy Queen customer successfully passed a piece of make-believe U.S. currency in the denomination of $200 and featuring a center picture of George W. Bush. The customer offered the bill to pay for a food charge of $2.12, and the DQ employee, luckily unnamed, handed her 197.88 in change. The Secret Service said it would not file counterfeiting charges because the bill was so crude it would be dificult to prove to a jury that it could be confused with real currency."
Life is indeed amusing.

3) I listened in to "Combat Rock" last night. For those who do not know, it is the KLSU punk rock show hosted by our very own Josh, Taylor & Evan. I called in & asked for Nation Of Ulysses & then Youth Of Today but neither was in stock. Oh well. Next time I will try the Get-Up Kids . . . ha, ha. It was heartwarming to hear those wacky fellas "send a shout out to Rick" as I climbed into my bed.
I am dissapointed with myself because I never got into some kind of garage band. Partly because I think it would have been a lot of fun but also because the kind of sound I thought some band ought to have, never came out. It would have been a rhythm oriented band with music sounding like "Waiting Room" by Fugazi or the last thirty seconds of "Testure" by Skinny Puppy or a lot of old-school Jamaican rock-steady songs. I have noticed that they have a lot of rolling bass lines. Then again, given my goofiness maybe it was a good thing I never got into that. I would have tried to sample home appliances & zoo animals. Besides, my musical tastes change every six months anyway.
4) Being single suxx

Archives links now up.

If you look to the right, you will see a sidebar item that lists Killoggs archives by month. Be warned, these take quite awhile to load. I may break them down into weeks at some point.

These archives are also done dynamically, so you guys won't have to wait on lazy ol' me anymore to read them. Remeber too, that you can respond to any post; no matter how old. You can also easily link to older comments, like for example if you wanted to talk about the time Yvonne Saw Pop Unknown last nite at the Bayou, you can do that just by using the [ link ] url at the bottom of each post. It will then take you to a page just for that post and it's responses.
