Josh's kids think he sucks.

I was looking for ninja movies when I came across this.
The movie is only mildly entertaining, but the real reason for
watching it is for the special cameo by Josh's head.

Anybody?

Who wants in?

I know we could divvy these up. Kenny and Hank and Roy and Patsy and Big John would go quickly. Those that go unclaimed we can melt. With fire.

Seeking Juxtapoz #24

Does anyone out there know where I can find a copy
of Juxtapoz #24 January/February 2000? Anyone have
one sitting around they wouldn't mind parting with?
Even better, anyone ever heard of prints ever being
made from the Joe Coleman painting on the cover of
Juxtapoz #24?

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

coke and a smile

i've been outta the killoggs loop a bit too long, so i thought i'd fill everyone in on what i've been up to and how i've moved and may soon move again and how my job is less than fun and how things have all changed since we last spoke, but instead, i thought i'd share with you a short story about a man and a belt buckle.

i'm always on the lookout for strange belt buckles. a few months back, i found a gentleman who had an interesting looking bronze buckle with a nun on the front, and Drink Coca-Cola in the fancy Coca-Cola script. on the back it said A Coca-Cola Creation, Trans-Pan Exposition San Francisco, 1915. here's a photo of said belt buckle:

it looked mighty interestin' and strange and all, havin' a nun on it, so i bought it. afterwards, the gentleman i purchased it from told me the story of how he bought the buckle in an coke collector's magazine in 1978 from one robert hope. he told me after talking to the man on the phone for awhile, he mentioned how the man on the other end sounded familiar. 'if i didn't know better...' he said to the man. 'with that voice, and that name, you sound like that comedian.' bob hope answered 'well, i might just be that comedian'

i don't know whether the story is true or not, but he told me after i had already purchased it, and either way, it makes a nice story. after researching the buckle some more, i found out Coca-Cola never put such a thing out (although some claim they did, and got in hot water and disassociated themselves from it). so it may be a fake, it may be real, it may be from bob hope, it may not. in any case, it's funny.

enjoy.

kindness of strangers - alive and well

it's not too difficult to find yourself being cynical from time to time these days, what with the current worldy situation being all it is. but every once in a while smack dab in the middle of it, life can throw you a curveball and remind you that not all is as bad as it might appear.

this past weekend i received one of those reminders. i'm currently hiding up in seattle on business, without much to do other than work. last week ben mentioned that shelly lived out this way and i should drop her an email. i did so, not really expecting much to come of it. after all, it's a little awkward sending an email that says 'hi, this is scott from killoggs...' to a stranger, but even more awkward receiving such an email, i would imagine. but not only did i get a response, i also received an invitation to get together and grab a bite to eat then go catch a couple bands. long story short: i ended up going, having a great time, and meeting some great people.

the awesome poster above was made by shelly so that two killoggs heads could find each other on a busy street corner.

on the surface of it, nothing all that extraordinary happened - i emailed, we ate and drank, i left. but through the course of chatting, i found out ben had called from a metro stop to vouch for me. he really didn't have to take the time to do that, and i really appreciate it. thank you ben. and shelly didn't have to extend the invitation - i would have been more than happy if she'd just sent the link to her great seattle guide she posted awhile back. but i'm glad she did. thanks shelly. it was great meeting you and your crew.

in the grand scheme of things these two acts might not seem like much, but they mean a lot to me. it's amazing to be able to be a part of such a group of people that would gladly welcome near strangers into their lives. so thanks, killoggers. if you're ever in san francisco and need anything, feel free to drop me a line. it's the least i could do.

please allow me to introduce myself...

...i/m a man of wealth and taste...

hello strangers, friends, and and friends yet met. i was one of the recent lucky recipients of a wonderful shiny new killoggs head. to celebrate, i promptly came down with a horrible disease (donated by the one and only loren, no less), and i was delirious and rabid. i finally shook off this horrible illness just in time to be hit with another of a different nature: the dreaded holidays.

luckily i seem to have survived both. so with great apologies to josh, i offer up this, my humble first killoggs post. i am from the left coast, sf to be exact. i come to killoggs via loren, who pleaded (and slipped large denomination, non-sequential unmarked bills) to one bendependent, who finally caved and formed me a head. i/ve been lucky enough to actually meet a few of the killoggs crew in the flesh. i met one arnie the same evening i met loren, at 924 gilman, catching the Against Me! show. soon thereafter, i was lucky enough to meet (and roadtrip) with the famous bendependent on an excursion to comic con. while there, i had the good fortune of meeting this cool cat known the world over as luster kaboom. i met courtney briefly at a vintage arcade show loren and i attended. last, but not least, i met the wonderful carla and kara as they wandered into loren/s apartment for an impromptu party. i feel fortunate to have met each of them.

other random tidbits of no particular importance: i/ve been bowling in the middle east during a so-called war, picked up and moved from san francisco to minneapolis for no apparent reason, been kicked by marilyn manson, and most importantly, dined with a certain mr. don knotts...

thank you, kind keepers of the killoggs kingdom, for the head and the voice.
