I'm a learning fool

I just successfully doctored my first Photoshop picture.

It's like a whole new world has opened up to me. That damn tool bar and "layers" are no longer so intimidating.

If I knew the number of pixels, I might even post it, but I don't want Josh to yell at me. I'm also assuming that a .psd file can be easily converted to a .jpeg file, but that's a lesson for another day.

Ahh...the French

April 12, 2005
New York, NY

I felt like enlightening myself tonight, so I went to a lecture at NYU by a pretty famous French intellectual, Didier Eribon. For anyone who cares, he is the biographer of and an expert on Michel Foucault, a pretty important French philosopher.

It was fairly incoherent for the most part, until Eribon, the speaker, points out a woman in the audience and starts raving about how surprised he is that NYU could invite a prominent homophobe to be a visiting professor.

He got back to his lecture, and things were going pretty smoothly until the question and answer session began. The woman he pointed out, some French sociologist, stands up and speaks her peace. This starts a verbal combat in true gallic fashion. Cries of "homophobe", "liar", and Eribon screaming repeatedly in French "did you or did you not call artificial insemination by lesbians the 'butchery of procreation?'".

Graduate students and professors were running around like it was a riot. It was fucking hilarious. The professors shut the lecture down with students behind me screaming about censorship.

I might be a geek, but that was fun.

Up in the Air

Now that John Paul has joined or will soon be joining Terri Schiavo, I'd like to propose Bernard Law for next Pope.

Few could be more worthy to wear the dress.

Do I have second...?

Vampire Sexploitation Films Rock

I had such a good time tonight that I thought I'd share.

Tonight, Kiche and I went to see "The Velvet Vampire" at the New York Underground Film Festival. This movie features all kinds of great stuff: two blonde newlyweds who've spent way too much time in the sun, dune buggies, grave robbing, gratuitous nudity and a vampira chasing her victim through a Greyhound station. I'm not an expert on 70's camp horror like Mr. Lorraine, but I can say that I enjoyed it immensely.

The festival is taking place at the Anthology Film Archives, which is this great old theater in the East Village. For the price of admission, we saw the movie, got free PBR tall boys, and last but not least, complimentary vibrators at the end of the show. (Apparently a sex shop was sponsoring the festival.) Now, that kids, is entertainment.

I need help!!!

I think I am being screwed by some computer repair people.

I would really appreciate it if you could tell me if I am right or wrong.

Currently, my laptop refuses to be charged. I have had this problem once before in the past and it was successfully repaired. They had to replace (forgive my nontech speak) a piece in the back of the computer where you put the plug in. It was a fairly simple procedure.

Now, my computer seems to be doing the same thing, and a different repair shop says that the motherboard was burnt up by this flaw. They say that they can't repair my computer, but for 150 dollars they can save some of my files.

Could my motherboard be damaged by the plug not working correctly, or are they trying to pull a fast one? What do you guys suggest that I do?

I hope this works

Hello Everyone.

I had no idea how sad my computers skills were until today. I still can't find a category called "first post", so "Introduction" will have to do. I suppose literacy will come with experience.

Thank you, Josh, for including me in the Killoggs community. I do appreciate it.

Now that I'm here, I have no idea what to say.

Ideas, anyone?
