My friend's dad works for ConEd - he just called and told her not to ride the subways any more today, as we will likely have a blackout. ConEd is sending all non-essential employees home right now so they can shut down power to their building. From yesterday's heat, Manhattan has 4 feeders out, putting a big strain on the system. He said in his 30 years working there, he's never seen ConEd act like this, especially at 10:30 in the morning. He said not to panic, but not to take a chance if it can be helped - avoid riding the subway if at all possible.

I'm going to the ATM now and checking out bus schedules. :-)

wow! run for cover was one of the funnest things i have ever done. getting to be dolly was a dream come true. all those people! there were so many people. after the show my body was like what the fuck was that and i threw up in the alley. adrian and mike are great musicians and crystal is so creative on the drums. i am sad that its over.

there were so many great bands, and huddo and julie and tina and laura and zach and who else?..... there were a bunch of killoggians on-stage. the post-modern lovers were dreamy and the b-52s were a damn blast! there was black sabbath, led zepplin, and ll cool j plus van halen, and i am so tired now that i cant write anymore.

suffice it so say that if you weren't there... YOU MISSED OUT!

is so much fun.

right now i am trying on my wig and wondering how to get it that much bigger.

i can't even think about the boobs.

well for starters you can come backstage to the shat noir for a fabulous party this saturday night. we will be celebrating the births of july kids and anyone else who didnt get cupcakes during the schoolyear.

WIPING BOOGERS ON BATHROOM WALLS !!!

i mean, why? and if it is just to be spiteful, well it is a cowardly way to be evil. i would prefer for you to wipe the booger on me and not the beautiful wall i so freshly painted. at least if you wiped it on me, then i would have a face to attatch the evil act to and you would feel the satisfaction in SEEING my dismay and disgust.

but i guess i can understand. i did afterall lick the man upstair's tea bread last week when he wasn't looking. i guess sometimes everyone wants to be a little evil and a lot incognito.

but from now on, boogers go on tissue in the trash.

karaeoke. i can't spell it, but i can describe it:

there are few things less depressing to me. i went for the first time last fall with crystal sally chuck jim and theresa, maybe others. i couldn't get over how dismal it all felt. this rotating bar that looks alot like this:

the entire purpose of going there this time was for me to practice singing dolly parton with crystal for our coverband. i wanted to get some singing in before we met with the boys.

the best part was as we were walking in. there was a group of three approaching the street to the hotel as we were. a "hip" white guy with an asian dude and a "foxy" eastern eurpoean chic who kind of looked like this:
but had on a knit black dress and punk belt and high heels. when we got to the elevator they were there too. the "hip" white guy asked if we were going to "sing the hits" and daisy asked if that was what the night was called. he said something smarmy and crystal subtlely cut him down and then the eastern european said, "do yuv tink zay vill hav neena?" i almost crapped myself. daisy and crystal did. so we had a night of singing the hits and i was rotating and watching the city and seeing the different parts of the district and thinking again how weird it is that nothing can be bigger than the capitol(?) and observing the way everything looks to be laid out like targets. i imagined a map in some person's room with pinpricks and each pinhead being the building i was looking at. and then i rotated past the pentagon and wondered what people if any were doing in there right then.

soon it was the easterns european's turn and she sang elvis presley's love me tender, and it was out of a movie. she had the deepest voice and these heels and such strong legs and affect. a few minutes later i went to the bathroom:

and she climbed into the first stall and i got the other one. i felt as i was beginnning to pee that maybe i should tell her that i really liked her song, but decided i didnt want to make a connection. then i heard her squirt three strong gushes of urine swish swish swish and i was glad i didnt say anything.

so finally crystal and i practiced and i didnt sound anything like:

but i looked just as happy.

i fucking am sick and goddamn tired of the cat licking me. any suggestions? and i mean serious ones. the cat belongs to the incense burning/turning roommate so i can't hurt it b/c she would hurt me. i have reached the end of my rope with this. i do not enjoy being groomed and i am close to hurting the animal.

i came down from the bathroom saturday morning. as i was descending the stairs, i saw this creature flailing in the corner of the room:


the cat kept jumping up and swooping the bird into his paws. i called my roommates and got the boys and asked what to do and they said to kill it but i couldn't touch it much less kill it. then my girl roommate came in and i told her what was happening and showed her the drop of bird blood on the floor. she shooed him out with an old t-shirt. he sat on the front porch stunned for a little while, so we made him a a little nest in a box with a towel and newspaper and some bread and water. he was still out there when we went to check on him. deysha ruffled the papers and bird flew out into the trees. later that night...

the same roommate performed a sort of spell in the living room and burned incense and shook it around and turned nine times counterclockwise in the bird corner and freaked me out. i prayed to god to ignore that if she just did voodoo and please not to strike me down.

then today woke up and made cds for my first bartending shift ever and i took a shower and got dressed and jumped on my bike to get to work. i am running behind so i book it to make all the lights and get up the hills and play chase with this guy through adam's morgan and coast up the hill just past 18th on columbia. i am in the middle lane when all of a sudden this

starts sliding into my lane a few feet ahead of me and i shout and speed up and get around him quickly but he's still behind me and he doesn't stop and


luckily i wasn't hurt. i jumped up and got my bike out of the way. i made sure it wasn't really broken. got the guy's information and made it to work with a kind escort (the one i played chase with) right on time. i took ibuprofen and drank some water and caught my breath. called a few people. then i opened the movie theatre and set up the bar for my first night


that went well. all my friends came out to support me and i knew how to do just about everything. i had to ask about a tequila sunrise though. my girl roommate was my barback which was awesome but weird because we are both normally barbacks and the dynaminc was different. however, she told me that the incense and turning was to undo the bad omen i had intercepted the other morning. it was pretty amazing that i didnt get hurt at all during the crash so i was grateful for her looking out. but then during the evening i felt where i had busted my lip earlier start to swell with this little bump. it grew and grew


and it is still growing.

i wonder what will happen tomorrow.

i remember during highschool in my civics class, i over heard the popular kids telling this story of how they all went camping and tara (my major boy crush rival) went to pee and wiped on a plant leaf and got poison ivy crotch real bad. i was happy b/c she played lea thompson to my mary stuart masterson and poison ivy crotch was not the way to eric stoltz's crotch. but eric stoltz was named matt buhsomething. i can't remember his name but i can tell you what i cant forget and that is the damn itching. and i have never had the chicken pox. what if i get the pox in tandem with the ivy? what then? the only reason i have the ivy itch is because i was lured into a "more private area" at an outdoor party that was "more condusive to conversation." and in this sparking convo i really shined. yes, it was with an opposite sexer. do you wanna know what i came up with for my part of the disco? i told an otherwise nice, quiet, handsome guy that i believed if we as a society are to be truly honest about gender equality, then women should be just as free to penetrate men. i then continued down the penetration poison ivy path by trying to logically argue this claim. i failed. but i did get a burning red oozey rash. aces. and i probably sealed the boy's asshole shut.
