manhattan is yesterday's burrough

so rita and i have moved in together. we now live in prospect heights in brooklyn.

it's an elevator building (!); and we live around the corner from a place that has both fish & grits and chicken & waffles on their menu (!!).

i was going to add a picture to this post of myself in a gw bush mask holding up mao zedong's little red book; but apparently the people who did some work on my apartment took them (i left them here, then the building manager let some people in and they disappeared, that and the markers and refrigerator magnet i had left here before i moved in).

Congrats man!

But I can't believe the manager let people gaffle your stuff.

I've wanted to visit you in NY for years now. Hopefully there's the possibility of space for me to. Or not...LOL.

Think I'm headed that way when I get some vacation time.

the manager is supposed to get back to me.

i don't think the workers spoke english. the super doesn't speak good english.

rita has a couch with a fold out bed. so if you visit you have a place to sleep.

the neighborhood is actually pretty cool; i think you'd like it a lot. it's nestled between park slope and crown heights; so there's a mix of stuff you'd appreciate. if it's warm enough we could even go grill in prospect park; and if you come around labor day, we can go watch the brooklyn carnival parade. it ends a couple of blocks from my apartment in grand army plaza.

Sounds fantastic! Good location. I remember most of your description from last time, but seeing it written out, it sounds even cooler. And I'm glad it didn't take you 6 months to find a place.

Hope the language barrier doesn't make the place suck.

I'm not spending another vacation at home.

actually, more people speak english fluently here than in chinatown.

Even better. It helps. I was inferring about your super, though. If there's a language barrier there, you could have a problem.

I'm sure his english will be serviceable, though. As a super, he's probably used to the same types of requests all the time.

I can't make it to Brooklyn for Labor Day. I think Blaise is flying me into Houston so I can hang out with him and his girl. Maybe Thanksgiving or Mardi Gras. I'd hate to be there when it's cold, though. I guess asking you what cold months are the worst is in order...so lemme know in this post.

I do hope to see you soon my friend.

November us gonna be cutting it close, eh? I'd hate to have to wait until 2009, but I'd have a bunch of time off and I could get my tix early and cheaply.

              Whaddaya think?

Awesome Kiche. Brooklyn is a great place, all neighborhoody and all. Must be quite a change from Manhattan?

I like the name Rita.

Congrats on the move! Hope the weather didn't make it too miserable. I hate moving in the summer. Go elevators!

prospect heights is ok. it's better than park slope or colonial williamsburg.
