Southwest Road Trip

Well, I've planned my Spring Vacation, and I have to say I'm very excited. The missus and I are renting this for a week:

First, we will be going to Disneyland for her Birthday. That night we will go stay with her Aunt and Uncle to sample their extensive Scotch Collection. Then we leave the next morning for an 8 hour ride out to Bisbee, Arizona to stay at The Shady Dell in this 1947 Airporter Bus that has been converted to a Polynesian Palace.

It's a trailer park with all the trailers being from the 40s and 50s. Check out the link above.

From there we head up to the Grand Canyon which neither of us have seen before. Then stay the night in Flagstaff, AZ which is supposed to be beautiful. Then we're off to Southern Utah into the red rock country which is one of my favorite parts of these here states. For the last day of the journey, we come home through Vegas.

Anyone else traveled these parts? Anything I shouldn't miss while I'm out there?

I liked Flagstaff and Arizona in general. Sounds like you'll have fun.

Don't get married in Vegas.

I'll try. I have to admit, that is good advice. But if it happens there, doesn't it stay there? Or have I been tricked again by advertising?

Don't listen to that She-Badger; if anyone at all should wed you and your Love, it is the King, Elvis Aaron Presley at 3:00 AM somewhere on the Strip.

Dude, I agree with Rick below, you need to get a ring on her finger yesterday. Marry the shit out of that woman. Do it fast. Knock her up quick. Vegas will help you.

If having a kid is anything like having a cat with a broken leg, I'm not cut out for the job.
brandon [email] said at 11:27 AM 03-27-2008:
Naw. You'd probably be a great dad. Kids are like cats - or bikes - anything that won't heal, you can just cut off.

Dammit. You mean I didn't have to pay the $1400 at the 24 hour animal hospital? Next time she's a kitty tripod.

I would hit up the north rim if you are looking to avoid mass commercialism. I also highly highly recommend Moab, Utah / Arches National Park.

This is awesome as shit. I need to make a trip like this again.
art [email] said at 12:19 PM 03-27-2008:
We tried to get to the North Rim, but it is a haul to get over there. We gave up and did the mass commercialism thing
anthony [email] said at 12:24 PM 03-27-2008:
Yeah it's definitely a haul, and it gets oddly cold as you change elevations.

I have never been to the south rim just because I heard of all the litter and gift shops surrounding it.
art [email] said at 12:35 PM 03-27-2008:
It's really not so bad. And if you go hiking, you can get away from the yahoos quickly enough
boudet [email] said at 1:21 PM 03-27-2008:
this sounds fantastic, will there be a slideshow at the house this summer?
max [email] said at 10:54 AM 03-28-2008:
I'm planning on making this a photographic trip, so yes. But it should be ready before summer.

I remember Bryce Canyon in Utah being very interesting when I visited with my parents years ago.
