that's awesome! congrats. holla at me if ya need anything teaching related - especially emotional support.
kaycee [email] said at 10:43 PM 04-09-2007:
thanks evan.. i had quite a few trials while i was in japan, but i have a feeling i am going to feel a bit underwater for awhile... at least i have classroom experience, and a will of iron! hah hah...
evan [email] said at 11:42 PM 04-09-2007:
i'm interested to hear how this compares with your japanese experiences. you're at a certain advantage being in a charter school, but i don't know much about new orleans charter schools. lemme know when you find out what school you're gonna be in. i can talk to my friend at new leaders for new schools and see if she knows anything. do you have to find your own school? if so, i might have some connections for you.
kaycee [email] said at 8:54 AM 04-10-2007:
...oh, but i won;t be in the charter schools... that's for the fancy people.. when they broke new orleans up into thr RSD and put 106 schools in"recovery," half of them went to charter and half are not.

teachNOLA places its uncerified teachers in the non-charter group.

i DO have to find my own school, although i have been given the impression that we are recruited from the institute. connections, though, would be most helpful! thanks!!

and i am interested in how all this compares with japan, too. we shall see!
evan [email] said at 11:04 AM 04-10-2007:
oh weird. i thought i remembered reading on the teachNOLA sight that it placed in charter schools. that's only for certified teachers?

i'll talk to my peeps and see what i can do for connections.
kaycee [email] said at 12:32 PM 04-10-2007:
            cool!
yeah, the charter schools will hire uncertified teacher as well... in fact i was offered a job in one... but that's not the purpose of teachNOLA. in order to work with them, i cannot teach in a charter school.

hey.. how hard were the PRAXIS exams? i could get exempt from PRAXIS I if i could find my old ACT and SAT scores, but i can't...

              exempt from the PRAXIS?

Lemme know about that if/when you find out. I'm serious, fo' realz.
evan [email] said at 6:52 AM 04-12-2007:
i'm not sure how hard the praxis exams are, but if they are at all similar to the LAST and CST exams i took, they are a joke.
amy [email] said at 11:29 PM 04-13-2007:
the new mexico tests were a total joke as well. the only tests i heard were a bitch were the ones from texas. the tests here are so easy i am thinking of adding endorsements in like every subject imaginable because all i have to do is pass the test. wooohheeeee. pe teacher. algebra teacher. biology teacher. etc etc etc

oh yeah, congratulations. that is totally cool to be part of a revolution. exciting stuff.

we totally need a teaching section added to the cute baby section.

Hi, I have a TeachNola interview on April 28th. I'm curious about what type of questions were asked and the overall experience. Is the essay based the 2 stories that we had to read in the interview guide? How long did it take you to find out you were accepted?
Thanks.
